Now They Know How Many Quacks It Takes to Fill the Albert Hall
Monday September 8, 2003
The longstanding factoid to the effect that a duck's quack doesn't echo has been disproven yet again, this time by acoustic expert Trevor Cox of the University of Salford with the help of a talkative duck named Daisy. 'A duck quacks rather quietly, so the sound coming back is at a low level and might not be heard,' Cox explained to Sky News. Nevertheless, he said, his experiments proved that Daisy's quacks did, in fact, produce an echo under various simulated conditions, including a performance at Albert Hall.
