It may sound like the premise of a schlocky sci-fi horror flick which it is, in fact but the real-life discovery of a 19-inch, land-walking, flesh-eating fish in a lake near Wheaton, Maryland earlier this week was taken very seriously by state environmental officials, who fear the invasive species could upset the local ecosystem.

Some experts have argued all along that the alarm raised over the species, dubbed "Frankenfish" by the media, is "more Hollywood than science."
