Two-Year-Old Rumors of Terrorist Ties Haunt Caribou Coffee

Two years after a forwarded email spread allegations that the investment firm which owns controlling interest in Caribou Coffee Company hired a radical Muslim cleric as an adviser, word-of-mouth rumors claiming the company has ties to Islamic terrorists continue to impact its bottom line, according to a May 23 story in the Chicago Tribune. Even though Caribou's parent company severed its relationship with the controversial cleric in 2002, CEO Michael J. Coles told the Tribune, "Things on the Internet don't go away." Amen.
