Wendy's Finger Saga Just Keeps Getting Weirder

Three weeks after a Nevada woman bit into a human finger while dining in a Wendy's restaurant in San Jose, California, investigators are still stumped as to the origin of the severed digit and how it ended up in a bowl of chili. Last week police searched the Las Vegas home of Anna Ayala amid media reports that she has a history of filing lawsuits against corporations and rumors that the finger may have belonged to a deceased relative. Ayala denied the rumors and announced that she won't file a claim against Wendy's. According to police she is not a suspect.

In the latest twist, another Nevada resident, Sandy Allman of Pahrump, informed authorities earlier this week that she suspected the finger was hers and offered to undergo DNA testing to determine if it was once attached to her body.

Allman said her finger was bitten off last February during an attack by one of the leopards kept on her property and she lost track of its whereabouts after doctors in Las Vegas failed to reattach it. At last report she had changed her mind, however, and expressed doubt that the Wendy's finger was hers. Evidently it was the wrong size. Police say that while there is no apparent link between the two Nevada women they haven't yet ruled out the possibility that it was indeed Allman's finger that turned up one month later in a spoonful of chili in California.

For the record, San Jose is 528.9 miles from Las Vegas.
