Curiously enough, the new TV series "The Book of Daniel" is described by both NBC and the Christian activist group the American Family Association in exactly the same way — its main character is a pill-popping Episcopal priest who seeks advice from Jesus on coping with his alcoholic wife, gay Republican son, and drug-dealing daughter — but the AFA characterizes the show as defamatory toward Christians while its creator, Jack Kenny, calls it a family drama in which the religion of the protagonist is incidental.
