I'm not questioning the authenticity of this pair of images showing a recently-born albino whitetail deer, but the email tale accompanying them is definitely suspect. For one thing, there are at least three versions in circulation, each claiming the fawn was rescued from certain death on a highway in a different part of the U.S. Read more...

The photos are authentic, but source is unknown and the prose is definitely a lie. The life of the doe, who can reproduce for many years to come, was certainly threatened to leave this offspring and nothing else. This is not uncommon in the wilds. Even a Grizzly will leave its cubs if sufficiently threatended, but just try to interfere with its kill. It will fight for it to the death. I can identify with that! Burp!
the albino fawn is a true albino mutation (pink eyes). This fawn is not one of the white deer (brown eyes) belonging to a herd currently in captivity. The email and photos of the white fawn named POWDER were sent to me by my cousin who claims the deer was found by a friend of hers in Northwest US (CO or OR-I cant remember). not Texas.
Dear Anna,
It’s been a while since anyone has heard of the little ablino baby. Can you contact your friend and find out what h/she did with the little guy/girl? I’d mostly like to know if it went to a nice place where it’s being kept well, healthy and loved. Also, can anyone visit it where it’s at?
Thanks so much! Namaste and Mahalo.
Miriam
I have pictures of an albino fawn we saw this past Saturday in Evergreen, CO. Send me an email and I will forward them to you. My wife Lisa took the photos.
