The corpse of Cyclops, the one-eyed kitten, who lived only a day but came to be immortalized in Internet debates over its authenticity, has been sold by its owner to a Creationist museum, according to the Associated Press. Oregon resident Traci Allen, who turned down an offer from Ripley's Believe It or Not! because she "didn't want Cy becoming a joke," decided to hand over the remains to Lost World Museum owner John Adolfi "because he was genuine and sincere," she told AP.
The Museum's mission, says Adolfi, is to "use the creative marketing techniques of P.T. Barnum to arrest the public’s attention" and "present the greatest evidence ever assembled which validates the creation account found in the book of Genesis." If anything, it actually goes further to prove the validity of evolution. A freak mutation which, in this case, did not increase the animal’s ability to survive and reproduce. Consequently, it died shortly after being born. Most mutations are harmful and make the animal less able to adapt. The whole point in evolution that this idiot obviously doesn’t get is that sometimes mutations are helpful to an animal’s survival or ability to adapt – thereby making the animal more successful in reproducing which eventually leads to new species.
Genuine ands sincere??? I bet the Lost World Museum offered more money than Ripley’s Believe It or Not because if she was really concerned she would have buried the kitten instead of making him a freak show no matter the venue.
It relates to creationism in this way: most mutations cause a reduction in fitness (survivability), and those that increase fitness within a niche environment generally decrease fitness outside that niche. (see sickle-cell vs malaria.) At least, according to creationists.

Kittens are indeed born with their eyes closed for the first week to 10 days. This is definately bogus. Btw, why would the one eye be so large? It says more about the breed of cats, Ragdolls and the deformities that can occur. I have worked 10 years in a vet practice and I saw many deformities with this breed. Nothing wrong with a run-of-the-mill crossbreed. They are (usually) free and healthier…
I can see the irony here with one eye closed. Every birth defect is evidence that creationism is just plain stupid. Even God is insulted by it. If these folks can make a buck selling the cat’s carcass to fools, more power to ‘em.
That woman was all about greed, no heart, but what goes around comes around and maybe she wont have any good luck with that death money. Yes that’s absolutely right…kittens are born with eyes closed…n they open only after almost 2 weeks…plus they have really tiny eyes at first…this sounds bizarre….
but its horrifying to think she was truly busy taking pictures while the kitten was dying…idve been crying had i been in her place..

For those of you saying this newborn kitten picture is a fake because its eye is open, let me inform you that this kitten was born with the congenital disorder called cyclocephaly or synophthalmia. Animals born in this condition always have their eye open at birth because of its large size, and also the eye cannot close due to absence of an eyelid. The two eyes are actually fused into one.
This condition has been recorded in other newborn animals as well as humans.
I feel sorry for the kitten and its short life as well, but know this. She did not suffer as her brain did not divide into its two halves as it was meant to, and as a result she felt no discomfort.

It would seem the Creationists have not only added Dinosaurs with saddles, but genetic abnormalities to their repertoire. It seems to be only an updated version of the old freak shows that once toured the Southern States.
It seems that if a cat is born with horrible deformed, and dies in two days, its an obious proof that god loves us and has a plan for us all.

The reason a creationist museum would have great interest in this specimen to have physical evidence that evolution that is severely flawed theory. Mutations do not elevate but instead diminish a living creature. If evolvution were fact, this kitten would have thrived. It would have superior eyesight and have no need for a nose. Before being quick to judge and throw out your mockery think about what in fact it is you believe. Because one day you will have to make account for your belief system and actions speak louder that words.
This is not a mutation of evolutionary type but rather a birth defect. Evolution is a very slow and gradual process and this poor kitten being preserved and displayed in the museum has nothing to do with it. The kitten will be used as a basis to spread lies to the gullible, Traci could not have found a better way to make a joke out of this kitten.
