Wildlife advocate and international TV personality Steve Irwin flirted with death for a living, so much so that premature reports of his demise have circulated for years. It saddens me to confirm that he did, in fact, die today at the age of 44 after being attacked by a stingray off the Great Barrier Reef. Witnesses said Irwin was stung in the chest and apparently succumbed to cardiac arrest while shooting an underwater segment for a new series called "Ocean's Deadliest." How did the new get here so fast… wait timezones right???
hated to hear of this news. Prayers go out to the family and to steve, may he rest in peace.
He was so alive. He did so much good for the animals. My prayers and sympathy go to his wife and children. Our world is a much sadder, narrower place for his loss. I feel like I have lost a friend.
I’m stunned, it almost hurts me to hear this horrible news. At least he died doing what he loved . . . BUT A STINGRAY, C’MON!
As an Aussie, there were times when I was ashamed that Steve Irwin represented us to the world. On the other hand, he was loud, energetic and over-the-top. He probably did more for the Australian fauna in 44 years, than Governments have managed over the past 200. My thoughts to his wife and children..
That is the saddest thing I have ever heard. I loved that guy he was my hero!!!!!! Well, I hope the best for his wife and children. May he rest in peace!
What a shame. Still, he was allowed to cheat death more times than any man ought to be allowed. It only figures that it would be something out of his element [i.e. NOT a croc]
My prayers and deepest sympathies go out to his family and all who loved him. May the God of all comfort bring to mind the wonderful memories of that smile and the sparkle in his eye.
We’ll miss ya, mate. You were a real beauty to us!
…Ha!
- Tudo tem o seu preço.Nunca acreditou, não respeitava, humilhava os animais como prazer pra se exibir.

It is not real. How can this be, he must of been needed elsewhere……. Does not make sense to me. This is proof that when it is your time it is your time. He is doing great thing elsewhere…….. Dam, life goes on……
OMG! I just heard. That is the saddest news! My heart goes out to his wonderful wife and beautiful children. It saddens me to hear of such an amazing person losing his life. Incredible! I’m in shock!
Steve… you turned a world full of furry animal lovers on to the magic and mystery of reptiles! That you are gone feels impossible. We grieve with and for Terri, Bindi Sue & Bobby!
There’s a very old saying – “If you play with fire, you’re going to get burned” …. but that doesn’t stop us all from being deeply saddened by Steve’s death.
SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY.SO MANY AROUND HERE ARE HURTING AS IF HE WAS A FAMILY MEMBER.I GUESS HE DIED DOING WHAT HE LOVED BEST.
My thoughts and prayers go to Steve’s family. They can take some solace that he died doing what he loved. My kids have grown up watching him and they are truly heart-broken. He was like an uncle, even though he was only on t.v. At least he lived to see his two kids and make sure they have a true love of animals. He also spent many years, thugh not enough, with someone he was true soulmates with. God bless Terri and the children.
steve was a good man! he was one of my idols! some people say he committed suicide cause he would know to never pull out the stinger! i miss him! i cried when i heard he died it was tragic!
