Your political inclinations might be better disguised. I’ve passed this article on to others who have promoited the myth but I cringed a littel as I looked down the site and across from the introductory commentary. It appears that you are pro-Obama, and maybe so. I would think that in promoting truth vs myth it would be wise to duck from political persuasion.
I’m guessing you are referring to the text ads promoting Obama in the margins of the page. Those are placed automatically via Google software on every page of About.com according to the subject matter found on the page. Their presence does not imply agreement on the part of the author with their contents.
I must say that I have always enjoyed this website, but after reading this, I’m starting to wonder. I udnerstand that it is necessary to debunk a myth of this scale. However, it saddens and sickens me to realise that America has become so intolerant of faiths other than Christianity – of which you practice a very strange version – that it is more important to verify this man’s faith, rather than pointing out that religion and politics are supposed to be separate, according to your own constitution. The questions you should be asking are: is this man a good person? Will he be a good leader? Your current president is a shameful example of Christianity. He is effectively promoting a new Crusade, a holy war against Islam. The Moslems call this type of crusade Jihad. What do we Christians call it? In the USA it seems it’s called “war on terrorism.” Every day, I hear of people who want to go to the States, live there, work there and every time I am puzzled. It makes me happy every day that I awake in a country where I, a Christian, am allowed to have Moslem, Jewish and Hindi friends of all races and nobody considers me unpatriotic or a terrorist-supporter.

There is a huge difference between having friends that are of other faiths and electing a leader of your nation. I have friends of many faiths but that doesn’t mean they are qualified to be president. Since you are not American why don’t you worry about matters that relate to your homeland and stay out of ours. I am a legitimate authority on Christian doctrine, I also know Obama’s beliefs and he is no Christian. I cannot say with certainty that he is an official Islam but his political goals are most certainly in line with the goals of Islam as are those of Mrs. Clinton and her husband. As for Mr. Bush, what are seen as his failings with regard to his politics, are really that a large percentage of Americans have been duped into supporting the goals of liberals (only one of several deceptive terms for socialism or communism) bent of the destruction of freedom. Islam is all about world domination by any means including deception. It’s the “wolves in sheep skins” thing and they fully intend not to live in peace with you or be your friend any longer than it takes to gain the upper hand. Once that happens, and it will just as quickly as they have the numbers and the influence to win at the voting booth, you all will be living under the tyranny of Islam. It seems rather obvious that this “war on terrorism” is a just war but it also serves as a cover for the control of some of the last easily reached oil reserves on earth. Socialist Americans simply do not comprehend the nature of war and what has to be in order for humans to have a meaningful degree of freedom. From the dawn of time, humans have felt the need to have as much control of each other as possible because we, in general, have shown that we cannot be trusted to treat each other as we each would want to be treated if we were the other person. This is a primary reason that militaries are necessities and that wars are going to happen no matter how much we might wish that they wouldn’t. In addition to that, the wealthiest people in the world, the ones that control the flow of money and raw materials, have often instigated wars on purpose and supported both sides with money, arms, and food. They are also involved in deceptive ways of controling the world’s human population and are intent on a drastic reduction within the next few decades. Natural resources belong to them and to their families, so they assume, and having too many “useless eaters,” (as they refer to the rest of us) means that the non renewable resources are being used up faster than technology can be developed to offset the catastrophic problems that will result before much longer. So, while Mr. Bush is certainly not a “saint” (to use the common misception of that term), his approach to dealing with Islamic terrorisim is in the right direction but it falls far short of what really need to be done because of the ignorance of a large number of Americans and Europeans concerning what is actually taking place in the world and why.
I really feel for those of you who are all for “tolerance” of the Islamic and Muslim religion. It is a proven fact that Islam/Muslims are against “all” of those who do not share their beliefs. For our nation to allow anyone of that faith or belief system into our government as President is suicide, and I mean that literally!

It is insulting for him to be wrongly accused of being muslim? This man being a minority himself should know better than to insult people by making the calim that it is “scurrilous” that, that be said about him. It is disgusting that in this day and age religion is such a deciding factor when electing a president. You are forgetting the most important attribute when deciding who should be the face of a great nation. Barack Obama from what i have sceen is a great man who stirs a long forgotten emotion in the hearts of millions, hope. Whether or not he is Muslim has nothing to do with how well he can run an office.
From everything i have read on the man he went to Muslim oriented schools in other countries, and with all due respect that makes him more qualified then the idiot we have in office now. Going to the schools and experiencing the religion first hand would give him a more well balanced impression of the religion, one that isn’t all Muslims are evil and the most dangoras enemy of America.
Oh and to address the issue of his agenda we do have the means to fund lots more then we do. It would just mean taking money out of the offense fund. We spend copious amounts of money on weapons and and new technologies. If made the government accountable for their spending you would be suprized.

If so, you didn’t say, so where’s your authority to back up that statement? I have read the Seventh Day Adventist website several times, and know many Adventists. They are fine Christian people, and I have no major issues with their doctrine.
Now, to Obama’s education, if I, a Mennonite, were to attend a Catholic school, does that automatically make me Roman Catholic? No, it does not. Attendance in a parochial school does not mean we advocate that denomination. To say otherwise is ludicrous. As to Obama’s patriot status, he’s as American as any other person born in the United States. Remember, Hawaii IS an American state! I think that most people are afraid of Obama because of his message of change. People typically do not like change…as seen in the last Presidential election when change that was most needed did not occur. Plus the fact that he’s African-American also makes most whites skittish. This kind of fascist propaganda is ridiculous.

I may not be as educated as other people who furthered their education in colleges,(im 19 i still have time on my side) but i have read books on Islam. And i know this much, if he was in fact muslim…so what? The reason he probably wasn’t advertising his religion is because of the labels that we have as americans of the terrorists whom are in fact muslim( extremists of coarse…normally Shiite Muslims). Maybe he is just trying to make a positive change for our country, maybe he is trying to prove that not all muslims are extremists. If we want to feel secure as a nation, we need to stop allowing people to define our realities and stop watching T.V. and read up on HISTORY..the real history (in the library…not high school books) and keep an open mind to expanding our own knowledge. Chap. one. That doesn’t sound like “tolerance” to me. Jesus told one man he healed to go and sin no more lest a worse thing befall him. Jesus was NOT tolerant of sin or perverted religions. But I knw it by his false face long before I encountered today the first mention about his “true” face (what can be true about this man?). We need to frickin’ get our heads out of the sand…this Presidential hopeful didn’t even have the decency to raise his hand and place it over his heart at the singing of our National Anthem…nor did he salute our flag. But, somehow he wants to sit in the White House? No way!!!! He also is the ONLY senator who immediately after 9/11 voted to do nothing in response to the worst terrorist attack on our country in history. I think most of the smear emails against Obama are because he’s a black man. What a shame that we can embrace A female Clinton clone for president but not a black man who is probably as good a Christian as Hillary is. Actually, Barak Obama’s mother was white, so he is multicultural. He goes to a Christian church, and if he says he’s a Christian, who am I to say otherwise? Or anyone else, for that matter? Americans aren’t called “sheeple” for nothing; they are too lazy to study religions and history. Islam gives respect to Jesus as a prophet, if not the Messiah, but the Jewish Talmud not only rejects Jesus as the Messiah, but says that Jesus was a heretic and magician and that he and his mother Mary are burning in excrement in Hell.
Actually, anyone who believes this election will bring about “change” is going to be disappointed. Those politicians that were allowed to be front runners are all in bed with the establishment and will continue doing business as usual, including sending more American jobs overseas and continuing senseless wars for oil control and to keep Israel going.
Kucinich and Paul are the only two who might try to effect change if elected.
Everyone is so darn worried about the religion of one man wanting to be President. You’re all getting upset about someone who MIGHT be a Muslim getting elected that you’re forgetting a major part of our government: CONGRESS. The whole point of our government is that the President is the leader of the country, but he is limited in what he can do without Congress’s approval. Everyone likes to blame George Bush for the shape our country is in. Well, what has Congress done to change things? If they truly want to change the direction of what is going on, they could find a way. The President is NOT all powerful. And don’t pull the veto blame game. If Congress wants to, they can override the veto. Apparently, there are a lot more people in Washington who want things going as they are than just the President. And if Barack Obama does get elected President and turns out to be a Muslim in disguise, are you afraid the Congress is going to instantly become Muslim-dominated overnight as well. IF he gets elected, and turns out to be Muslim, I’m sure the christian Congress will stand up to any attempts to sway this country towards being a Muslim nation.

You must be ignorant not to know that there definety was a time when when muslims did dominate and during their domination the christians and jews were protected and thrived and educated and were never distrusted or alienated. This lasted for more than a thousand years. You have no proof of what ever you write but the proof of what I say, are all the christian churches and jewish synagouges which have stood for hundreds of years in the middle east and north africa and are used even today.
Also you forget how the european christians ganged up against the Jews in 1492 in spain and drowned them in the meditranian and they did the same to the muslims untill none were left on mainland spain.
While spain was dominated and ruled by muslims, if they had been as you say, there would have been no christians or muslims left in spain and parts of france where muslims ruled and christians and jews felt safe and free.
And dont forget what christian europe did to the six million jews recently.
And what did you do to the millions of american Indians, what did you do the 10 million africans and what did the christian criminals do to the millions of Aboriginis, I wish you would read some historic facts before writing such unwarranted crap.

When Nonie Darwish was a girl of eight, her father died while leading covert attacks on Israel. A high-ranking Egyptian military officer stationed with his family in Gaza, he was considered a “shahid,” a martyr for jihad. There is still a street named after him. Find out why this lady now supports the US, the war on terror and Israel.
Following that book, please read, “Infidel”, written by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. She suffered a traditional Muslim childhood in Somalia, Saudi Arabia, and Kenya and now lives under armed guard in the West. Do you remember when Theo van Gogh, in the Netherlands was murdered by an Islamist? Theo was stabbed many times and a note was stabbed into him for the authorities to find… the note was specifically for the author of this book, none other than Ayaan Hirsi Ali. When you are finished with these books, I can recommend some others, all written by Muslim, or, once-muslim women, but no longer. I am certain you will change your mind about the Islam religion being “peaceful”!

I know of Nonie Darwish, and can tell you that she lacks lots of creditablity. Her first two marriages ended scandalously
and she is affiliated with a well known bigot, David Horowitz. Anyone can write a book, but a book that to be recommended should be from a reputable scholar or an expert, not someone who has a very nasty background

The ignorance and stupidity appear to be from your pen.
It has long been understood that the only criteria in describing the tenets of any religion is the the written authority claimed by the followers of the particular religion. For example, any person claiming to be a Christian must follow the fundamentals (not to be confused with fundamentalism) of the faith. If any essential fundamental, such as the Triune God, is rejected then that person can claim to be of the faith, but is not, regardless of what they call themselves.
The same applies to a Muslim. To be a Muslim, one must follow the fundamentals set out in the Quran. If a person calling him/her self a Muslim rejects what the Quran says a Muslim must be and do, then they are not a Muslim. They might be a Half Muslim, an Advanced Muslim or any other name, but they are not Muslim and they do not define Islam.
A Christian is a Christian only if they accept all the necessary tenets. A Jehovah Witness, or a Mormon, is free to claim religiosity, but they are not Christian nor can their beliefs define a Christian. The same applies to a Muslim, Krishna, or any other religion.
The attributes given Islam in the Bailey post are essentially correct and, in fact, are kind when compared to a deeper exploration of the Quran. If these attributes are true, and they are, and they create fear, then that fear should be true, respected, and not trivialized.
Perhaps, GEEZ, you should study Islam, if you haven’t, and understand the true Islam and the essential Mecca and Medina processes in the conversion tatics of Islam. Those who are part of the Uumah, as all true Muslims must be, know their role and timing in the world domination by Islam, so plainly and clearly set out throughout the Quran.
As for posts asserting Obama to be a Muslim, I can only say that there are troubling statements and relationships that need to be more fully explored and verified. I am sure it will be attempted.
I regulalry debate Muslims who claim their authority as the Quran. I would be most happy to answer questions on Islam using the Quran and the actions of those consistent with the Quran.

Typical of many posters who figuratively sit in a phone booth size closet with single bare light overhead pounding out the venom, although perhaps not you, is your trashing of someone with descriptions of their ‘marriage ended scandalously’ (two no less and Mrs. Spitzer could have that description applied to her), and affiliated with well known bigot David Horowitz.
Do these diminish her experience as a Muslim woman? What is the connection you try to make?
I don’t know David Horowitz personally, but understand him to be conservative and anti- Chereminsky politically, among other things. I say politically because when UC Irvine fired Chereminsky as Dean of its law school because of his far left rhetoric and beliefs, David Horowitz came out publicly in Chereminsky’s defense.
I don’t know what your meaning of bigot was when you used it, but certainly most left folks believe all the right folks to be bigots and visa versa. Its easy, and disingenuous, to just label to attack credibility. Its honest to describe conduct which brings you to your conclusion and allow others to form their own.
Of course honesty is in very fine print in the blog dictionary. It is easier to make a point by stating someone, “…has a very nasty background.” I guess someone could say that of you also, and that would be as unfair as you were; absent specifics.
Has everyone forgotten about 9/11 so soon – to be thinking about electing a possible Muslim to US presidency is just insanity. We need someone experienced to keep terrorists off our soil. Haven’t you noticed that there hasn’t been an attack since 9/11? Whether Obama is the antichrist or not, he is a smooth talker who has not accomplished a daggone thing during his tenure as a senator. He is deceitful and wants to be president at all costs. He loves getting is picture taken because he is full of vanity.
Obama very well may become the first black president of the United States this November, which would be histroy making indeed.
But I believe we have a million more years to go before a Muslim is elected as the President of the United States, since the majority of people in this country believe that all Muslims are terrorists, when in fact, 99.99999999999999999999999999 percent of Muslims are lawful God-abiding ordinary people.
It’s too bad and sad that people feel this way about Muslims, and at times, I’m saddened at how Obama totally tries to distance himself from the Muslim religion (but my second paragraph addresses why he does, because people wouldn’t vote for him then out of fear).
We have a long way to go in this country.
I for one could care less if Obama is a Christian, an Atheist, a Muslim or whatever his religious affiliation is. The only issue I have with Obama is not knowing if he is ready to lead this great country. That is the one issue that worries me when he wins the election, which, he will win. I welcome the fact that a man or woman with african-american roots will be elected, and that finally we have grown enough as a country to allow that to happen.
I also think that although we have grown as a country, tolerating people no matter what the color of their skin is, unfortunately I believe that there will be attempts made on his life while he is our President. We will look back in 4 years and then we will know if Obama was or wasn’t right for the job.
ok Sara, I think you need to check your facts a little. Let me first ask you, how many muslims, or jews died in the name of Chritianity over the past 2000 years? A lot! Religion has nothing to do with it. People will always do things in the name of something to promote their agenda. 9/11 wasn’t an islamic sponsored event, called down to the clerics by Muhammed, it was done by a person who hates the U.S. and carried out by people brainwashed into thinking it’s the right thing. Anyone willing to kill themselves for someone else is wrong in the head.
The only time, I believe killing yourself for someone else would be to save someone you really cared for and it was the only way they would live. Like jumping onto a grenade to save other people, or take a bullet for a loved one. Killing yourself so that others will die is not a “muslim” only thing. Ireland, that was and still is a struggle between Christian religions.
It’s just really easy to blame the middle east. Just look back in history and the Christians took war to the muslims in the name of God, was that right? Hell no it wasn’t right, and neither was flying 2 planes into the towers at the WTC.
Killing people in the name of religion is not the work of god, if you believe in god, rather it’s a work of the devil. If you just skim the religions, muslim and christian beliefs are not that far off of one another.
Anyone in a position of power of others core beliefs, like Osama bin Laden, or Adolf Hitler, or the Pope has the potential to really pervert an entire people. Osama has made the west think in large that all muslims want to kill every other non-muslim. Hitler made the world think that all germans wanted to exterminate the Jews, and Popes in power during the crusades made the world then think it was ok to wipe the muslims or Jews in the Holyland and elsewhere off of the earth.
Sorry this is long, and will probably go unnoticed, but try to think for yourself and do not tie religion into it all, more people have died in the name of some god then all of the wars not fought in the name of religion combined.
IF Obama is a muslim, which I seriously doubt, means nothing. Oh and by the way, I am not an Obama rep, personally, I don’t think he is ready and am voting for McCain, but it’s because I don’t think the man is ready, not because he is part black, or red or green, or his religious beliefs.
