The emails started coming in early this morning, headers blaring "Sinbad, the comedian, died today, heart attack." Attached was an excerpt from the freshly-revised Wikipedia entry on the 50-year-old entertainer, born David Adkins on November 10, 1956, which contained the sentence, "He succumbed to a fatal heart attack on the morning of March, 14, 2007."
It is a hoax. The revision history of the Wikipedia article shows that it was repeatedly vandalized, corrected, and vandalized again beginning on March 14 and continuing until it was closed to further editing 24 hours later. When last I checked, the entry was correct.
I have spoken with a representative at Sinbad's production company, David & Goliath Productions, who said that Sinbad is alive and well, and any rumor to the contrary is false.

I am so relieved to hear that this was just a hoax.

My mom sent me the e-mail saying that Sinbad was dead, which I subsequently sent around the office.
After googling this news, we all learned (and were relieved)that rumors of his death were false.
I was promptly chastized and reprimanded for sending around junk e-mail to coworkers.

Who is for sure it was meant to be a joke. After all some one may have heard it some where, went to Wikipedia, updated the entry, then it was fixed, and then another person, who had heard the rumor, went to Wikipedia, updated it again.
With the Type of Site Wikipedia is, this could have happend very innocently.

Why, oh why, couldn’t this be true? Sinbad has done more damage to the comedic profession in one stand up routine than most comics could hope to do in their entire lives. He’s about as funny as finding out you have testicular cancer.

That’s the problem with an open project like Wiki. Anyone can throw out something without any research or facts and many people will believe what they read.
Phew… – I was talking about Sindbad last night after my Birthday Dinner at the Precinct in Cincinnati (Outstanding by the way) – she told me that he passes… I was literally in shock and very sad about that. – I am very glad that I just found out that it was a sick hoax… Rock On!!!
