Via Danger Room: Among the reasons cited for revised Operations Security regulations governing what, when, and how military personnel can post in public forums, including personal blogs, is the danger of revealing seemingly innocuous information that could compromise military operations -- information like sudden surges in pizza deliveries to command headquarters.
To demonstrate how such minor revelations can add up "like pieces of a puzzle" to give away the bigger picture, OPSEC program manager Major Ray Ceralde points to the evening of January 16, 1991, when word got around that there were more cars in the Pentagon parking lot than usual and pizza parlors experienced a sharp increase in orders from the Pentagon and White House. Later that night, Operation Desert Storm was launched.
Which, as Wired blogger Noah Schachtman points out, may amount to nothing more than an urban legend fostered in the decade past by a now-deceased Domino's Pizza francisee. The evidence, such as it is, remains inconclusive.

I won’t lie I don’t really get this that much
Of course it is true. That was (and still is)important part of the KGB (and any spy agency) operation. For example from the kitchen waste and garbage, they are able to estimate number of troops in the military base. Any icrease will give away movement of troops etc.
Actually, it was true that there was a “surge” of pizza deliveries to the Air Force side of the Pentagon the night before the air phase of Desert Storm was launched. It was even reported on CNN. Afterwards, we soldiers were told in no uncertain terms to have any pizzas, etc. pre-stocked while the ground phase planning was completed. I know because I was there.
You would be surprised how the intelligence agencies and other outfits can glean such information with just some astute detective work. Nowadays, people just need to be better at covering their tracks.
And Jay, honey, thank you for your service to our country.
