Plans Proceed for Out-of-this-World Theme Park

About.com's Elizabeth Mitchell has an update on plans for the construction of the Alien Apex Resort, a UFO-themed amusement park currently targeted for completion in 2010 in Roswell, New Mexico. Why all the media buzz now, with the opening not scheduled to take place for another three years? For one thing, the out-of-this-world theme park now has its very own Website. For another, we're only a little more than one month away from the sixtieth anniversary of the series of unfortunate events that first put this sleepy southwestern hamlet on the map: The Roswell Incident.

Well, David. It appears I am on a roll with making Urban Legends come true. Remember the Grand Canyon West Skywalk? Well it did happen! And, I was there for the Grand Opening. I wonder if I can do the same for the Alien Theme Park!

Let’s suppose, for the sake of argument, that the government actually had some evidence of aliens and had been hiding it. In this age of daily leaks, internet searches and papaarazzi bribery, how is it possible for something that big to be successfully hidden for 60 years? Further, if there are other beings out there (note that over 200 planets have been discovered around other stars) and they’ve been visiting us, wouldn’t they have left some evidence over thousdands, even millions of years, or made their presence known to us at some time and place? Even supposing there are intelligent beings on other planets, the laws of physics as we understand them today suggest interstellar travel is a formidable, most likely an impossible undertaking.
