DriveTime columnist Michelle Groh-Gordy debunks a recently revived list of eight "new California traffic laws" supposedly set to go into effect on July 1. Is it true that there's a double fine for using your cell phone in a construction zone? Has the fine for driving in a carpool lane really gone up to $1068.50? Answers here.

To help improve and maintain freeway traffic, I think that it would help if the big rigs truckers would not have to stop at stop lights when entering the freeways.

I agree with Phil A regarding big truck and Motorhome or any large equipment over 20,000 lb. should not stop at the red light at the on ramps. It will take to long for the equipment to make up speed. Being the vehicle coming on the on ramp doesn’t have the right away it will cause serious accidents.I feel they should open the slow lane up to on and off lanes so when anyone gets onto the FWY they need to gain the speed the traffic is going and than move over as soon it is safe to do and keep the slow lane clear. I feel this will stop a lot of congestion. I also feel that camera should be on the freeways and site those who is talegating, speeding and traveling in the car pool illegal and etc. Especially following to close with 18 wheelers and all others traveling on the FWY.

I have a great idea.
instead of creating new laws why don’t we just enforce the one’s we have
i drive with my cruse set at posted speed limit. and have to stay in the slow lane because the traffic travels
abuot 15 to 20 miles over the limit
