Blockbuster 'Free Video' Coupon Is Invalid

Thursday November 8, 2007
Screenshot: Invalid Blockbuster coupon circulating via forwarded emailSorry, movie fans. I checked with a local Blockbuster outlet just to be sure, and, as you probably feared, the printable "Blockbuster Night" coupon currently circulating via email isn't valid and won't get you two free video rentals, a tub of popcorn, and 20 oz. of Coca-Cola.

File under: Too good to be true.

Blockbuster SHOULD offer a generous coupon like this! They are sooo cheap and RARELY offer coupons to the customers, anybody would know that this is a HOAX!

This was also passed around our office. It took quite a few people going to blockbuster before everyone heard it is a hoax.

I tried to warn my co-workers but one of them ‘claimed’ they had used the coupon and it worked.

This thing has been around since July. Agree that this would cost BB a ton of money even if they did only allow one per account.

What’s funny is that one of my co-workers sent this out as a thankyou to employees and customers for all our hard work. Ha! She seems to be on the hook now for about 200 movies and junk food.

I work at blockbuster and have come to hate this coupon… all we do is look at the last 3 numbers… 199. I have only seen one real one. These coupons started out at mycokerewards.com where you would trade in your coke points for blockbuster deals like this one. Many companies have been handing them out… one person told me that a non-profit organization handed them out to people who donated!! Our store honored this coupon the first time it came in because we thought the computers where messing up. But everyone has caught on at this point lol.

If you read the coupon description, it says:
“Offer excludes games, equipment rentals or defensive driving course.”

I was unaware of Blockbuster offering driving courses.

(8) Kory says:

California blockbusters do offer defensive driving coarses at about 300. dollars a pop.
