The most legendarily weird aspect to the story is that Cass had nothing to do with rock, the Mamas & the Papas being a folk group. The biggest urban legend of all time is that folk, disco, funk, R&B, rap, reggae, jazz or any other type of non-R&R music are the same things as rock.

The Mammas & Pappas sang “I Dig Rock N Roll Music” which was a big hit on Pop radio in their day thus revealing their rock roots. It would be remiss to refer to them as strictly ‘folk’ artists because they weren’t. I think the term was ‘folkrock’, ogden… and they were legendary so get your urban legends straight.
