Kopi Luwak Is Real... Expensive
Thursday April 10, 2008
A department store in London is offering kopi luwak -- the legendary varietal coffee consisting of beans harvested from the dung of the palm civet in Indonesia and southeast Asia -- at the gut-busting price of £50 (about $99) per cup. Once thought by many to be an urban myth, kopi luwak has earned a reputation among coffee conneisseurs for its smoothness and "distinctive" aroma. The brew currently being offered at the Peter Jones Espresso Bar is actually a blend of kopi luwak and Jamaica Blue Mountain, two of the rarest and costliest varietals to be found. Proceeds from the sales of "Caffe Raro" will go to a cancer support charity.

What a Urban Legend.
We sold Kopi Luwak since over 5 years.
I like it, tastes good but the price is not so high.
Have a look at www.hagenkaffee.de
Its a german Specialy-Coffee-House
I’ve had a cup (and by the cup, it costs about $9), and after the novelty wears off, it’s really not so great.
Nevertheless, you can always count on someone saying, “That’s good sh-t!” in true Cheech-and-Chong intonation.
There were several coffee houses selling the stuff over the Internet, last time I checked.
