Update: Palin Announces Daughter's Pregnancy to Rebut Rumors

By , About.com GuideSeptember 1, 2008

Follow me on:

Sarah Palin announced today that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol Palin, is now about five months pregnant, effectively rebutting Internet rumors speculating that the Republican vice-presidential candidate's fifth child, whose birth was announced last April, actually belonged to her daughter. Bristol will keep the child, says Palin, and intends to marry the father, as yet unnamed.

And like this is the first ever teenage pregnancy???????????????????????? This is silly to even be brought up at all. I believe this is Family business not the publics business at all!

If this was an Obama scandal, would it be “family business”? I doubt it.

How about this – Sarah’s “son” trig weighed 6.2 ounces at birth. Babies w/ down syndrome have a lower birth weight. Trig was also supposedly born a month pre-mature. This is kind of a heavy birth weight for a month pre-mature downs baby. Trig weighing 6.2 ounces would be an acceptable normal downs birth rate if born on time from her teenage daughter. Also why did her FACE and BREAST not get any bigger. Woman on their fifth child are usually whales at birth. Be nice to see a pic of her pregnant from her pregnancy before trig.

My sister got pregnant when she was 16 back in
1974. That was the year abortion became legal again, but there was no thought about that. I’m so glad my sister had her daughter,
otherwise I wouldn’t have had such a
wonderful and loving niece I have today!! My
sister was one of few girls that were going
through pregnancy and high school at the same time. Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is that even though times have changed, feelings haven’t from family to family to family. It doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor. All that matters is loving that baby, that is going to come into the world! In this instance, like any other celebrity, they all appreciate privacy at such a difficult time, and would hope that allwould respect that privacy…

Sorry to say but when you are a politician, a celebrity, famous or infamous, your business is everyone’s business. Because before giving advice to the public, personal matters are priorities. The working class an civilians want to depend on someone reliable. It doesn’t necessarily mean they have to be perfect. I heard Palin was against sexual education in schools in Alaska that really contradicts her daughter being pregnant. Now does it. But they do need to leave her daughter alone, she is pregnant and that’s stressful for a teeenager.

@Lyn:
“I heard Palin was against sexual education in schools in Alaska that really contradicts her daughter being pregnant.”

I don’t believe it contradicts. Some might suggest it provides evidence of a fallacy of “abstinence only sex education,” but I don’t think it contradicts the fact that Palen believes in abstinence. It just clearly proves that Bristol does not.

And if Obama’s daughter got pregnant, it would be front page news! It would be something else to tar and feather him for; everyone would be saying wow, what a bad father he is, how could he let that happen to his teenage daughter? Why wasn’t he teaching her morals? Where are the family values?

Why isn’t the Republican party saying the same about Palin? What kind of mother is she, why didn’t she teach moral values to her teenage daughter, why wasn’t she watching what her daughter was doing?
(I don’t believe this is something to say, mind you, so don’t jump all over me!)
It’s what they would be saying if it was Obama’s daughter, that’s for sure!

But now that it’s one of their own, the Republicans are mute about their family values and morality, right?

What does the Republican party say now about Family Values?

What happened to all that rhetoric? Guess the great idea of teaching abstinence alone in sex education class didn’t do Palin’s daughter much good.

I think the Republican party should be renamed Teflon Party, since none of their rhetoric seems to stick to them.
