Did Anne Kilkenny Really Say Those Things About Sarah Palin?

By , About.com GuideSeptember 5, 2008

Follow me on:

The viral email of the hour is a lengthy screed lambasting Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin's record as a small-town mayor and Governor of Alaska. It was signed by one Anne Kilkenny, who claims she is longtime resident of Wasilla, Alaska and was able to observe Sarah Palin's governing style firsthand.

Did she really write it? Yes, she did. Does Anne Kilkenny really live in Wasilla? Yes, she does. And, in case you hadn't already guessed, she's a Democrat.

Update: For a different hometown perspective with a decidedly Republican bent, see Wasilla resident Deb Frost's letter hailing Palin as the "U.S.'s answer to Margaret Thatcher."

Turns out that claim about selling that jet on ebay is also a “tall tale”!

Actually a major republican donor bought it for $600,000 less than the sale price.

Palin sold jet to a wealthy republican donor / businessman

We are all now elbow deep in moose poop.

(4) Ugly Betty says:

Sounds like one jealous female slamming another who is a bit more devious and successful than the other. The entire letter is rife with personal opinion which is why she wrote it, but is does reflect only her opinion.

(5) Nancy Morton says:

And where the lies that Palin told about Obama in her speech her opinion?? She also told lies about herself. . .the gas pipe line hasn’t even been started and it was already on the books before she was governor. The facts are that the pit bull with lipstick is really a python in go go boots who is under investigation in her own state and wants to ban books. She screwed the taxpayers so she could build a sports center, but cut the little libraries funds. She believes the war in Iraq was ordered by God. She is another of Rove’s puppets. Your entry is based on opinion not on fact. Look up the facts for once.

yaaaawn! I’m sorry…was there something important here in this long democratic rant from a person with an ax to grind?

September 6, 2008 at 2:26 pm
(8) Ben says:

I don’t know how much of an “ax to grind” a housewife in Wasilla has. This is the best information we actually have as to what type of leader Sarah Palin would be. There are plenty of rumors out there by a public caught so off guard by someone no one knows – it stands to reason rumors will continue to fly until we know enough about her.

This letter of Anny Kilkenny is cites facts. Trying to fire a librarian for not banning books, tax rate increases, dollar amounts for pet projects, things a voter needs to know.

(9) KB says:

i totally appreciate anne’s letter. i don’t think she was harsh at all. i think she gave the other side. i would LOVE to hear more things that the locals say about her….let’s face it…they know…not us.
personally, i think she is a trainwreck and has no business accepting such a position with her family life being so …shall we say…hollywood.
i’m a business woman myself but can’t even begin to think how her family will suffer with her working the hours she’s about to endure. i think she’s a career woman more than a mother…too bad she doesn’t have the common sense to stop getting pregnant.
she’s so right radical that its dangerous! the woman can not separate church and state!!! the war is gods will???? wtf is her god? i find it so hypocritical of her to be pro life but has no problem killing animals in the wild for sport. animals are far better than humans in my world.
i will write in ron paul…which is a passive vote for obama.

(10) sextus says:

Why do you say that Kilkenny is a Democrat “in case [we] hadn’t guessed?” Sounds like Palin herself is proud of how many Alaska Republicans she has alienated. It makes her a “maverick,” like McCain. I think your comment is unpleasant and unwarranted.

(11) regine kelly says:

Is it possible that Anne Kilkenney is a Karl Rovosaurus ploy to innoculate the American public? The real truth being that Sarah (The Olde Woman in the Shoe) is not really Trig’s mother—-the photos I have seen from early this year really do not persuade me that Palin is seven months pregnant. Will Bristol’s current pregnancy prove this either by being the longest in history or by some “miscarriage” in October or so? Most importantly: The depths of dishonesty the GOP will resort to has dropped lower and lower each year since the 1950′s. Throwing Bristol under the “political bus”—so to speak—would be the audacity of evil.

(12) rb says:

David (and Snopes, who also covered it) have every right to tell us whether this viral email is legit or not – whether it is written by the purported author. Just like any other viral email. Thanks, David!

I’m a libertarian and I found Palin to be a fantastic speaker at the GOP convention. But what’s the truth? Therein lies the rub. Her appeal to me is that she is a real-life small town woman who also is brilliant, well-spoken, and dynamic. Go, girl!

But would she uphold the libertarian values I hold dear? This letter provides some of those answers. Unfortunately, we who want less government AND less governmental intrusion into our private lives still have no dog in this race. I’m still unsure which would party’s ticket would be worse in office.

(13) MelissaTX says:

Let me straighten this out for the men who are reading, when a woman is jealous or has sour-grape-syndrome she calls the object of her hatred a bitch, and demeans her character. It is what the female of the species does, and this letter is no different. As a female, reading between the lines, she is furious about Palins “b abe” status, success, large family, cute hubby, position of power, and commendable actions in the face of having a special needs child. In other words, if she was a man she would be Keith Olberman.

September 6, 2008 at 7:14 pm
(14) are you kidding? says:

The answer to Anne Kilkenny is that she is jealous???? I may not be as “pretty” as Sarah but I recognize her power hungry “take no prisoners” style. Reward friends and destroy enemies even if their “sin” is to question. This debate descends to the absurd so often: Sarah is unqualified, unsafe and unkind.

(15) lisa lengoren says:

it is sad so few commented on content as opposed to tactics and tone. banning books in present day USA…surely you jest. taking on the Library? choosing what is right for HER daughter’s unborn child while denying the rest of the citizens of the USA the right to decide? let’s not lose the ability to think clearly amidst slanted propoganda

September 6, 2008 at 7:30 pm
(16) Oh really? says:

Please, we know Anne Kilkenny exists and that this letter is her opinion. She is entitled to have one. I appreciate hearing it. As a working professional mother, I want to support women political candidates but this one scares me. Forget the politics, what about those vaulted “family values?” Almost every parent I work with, male and female, has at times had to put their ambition and selfishness aside for their families. We have turned down promotions, assignments with too much travel, and relocations because of current family conditions. Never would I have let my ambition put my seventeen year old pregnant daughter under a national spotlight. This is probably the most trying time in that young woman’s life, why share it with the world? Then bringing the boyfriend to the RNC? Talk about a shot-gun wedding! And having her own new baby sitting in the crowd for hours in a noisy convention hall? It made some great photo ops. But with their passing the baby back and forth like a campaign poster, I was watching to see the overflowing diaper leave a urine stain on Mrs. McCain’s beautiful dress. A caring mother would have turned down the VP nomination at this time. I am sure there are other attractive, qualified women in the Republican party that John McCain could have chosen.

(18) Sad World says:

Right on to ‘O Really’. I’m with you 100%.
I can’t believe that a loving, caring mother would have her infant present in the convention hall with all the noise and mess going on.
Doesn’t say much for her leadership. I would say she should spend her time being a mother to her children before she has another out of wedlock baby on the way.
It just blows my mind that McCain actually tapped someone like her to run with him. Surely there are many other republican women without a growing family to run on his ticket. Someone with experience.
It scares me that she could end up running our country one day. Everyone has to give this serious thought when going to the polls. The possibility of a vice president taking the reins this next term, for both parties, is a very real concern.

(20) shakin my head says:

McCain and Palin shine like a pair of brass nuts. Not silver or gold- too refined. They both seem impulsive and not wrapped too tightly. As for the email, there are facts interwoven in the opinion- not too hard to separate them out. Focusing on the facts (the financial decisions- ex:neglecting some basic needs over pretty shiny projects), the powermonger moves (fire the LIBRARIAN?),the lack of experience in the world beyond Alaska, etc etc…it all adds up to read: “RUN AWAY”!Personally, I will not vote for them. The thought of them being in charge and trying to restore the world’s confidence in America as a country who cares-heaven help us. Ack- just writing about it- now I feel a fetal position curlup coming on.

Palin never said she sold the jet on ebay. She said she PUT it on ebay. It was not a new plane and a businessman paid around $500k less than new price.I should think the people of Ak would rather have the money she got for the plane than to have their elected employees flying around in it.I lived in Ketchikan for three years so am not completely in the dark about the people.

About the jet, why did McCain say she sold it on eBay and made profit.

And please stop telling this Jet/eBay, it makes me feel like some marketing of eBay. Do McCain&Pailin get money like $10000 each time they mention eBay from eBay?

September 7, 2008 at 7:54 am
(24) Dave says:

Yeah, I read it all the way through. Twice. And the second time through an image of Anne Kilkenny popped in my head: that she was playing Mrs. Barrett to Palin’s Joe Clark in Lean on Me. Truly, Palin seems as popular as Joe Clark was to his students, the “old boys” seem as afraid of her as the Newark administration was of Clark, and Mrs Barrett, I mean Kilkenny, can’t seem to give credit where credit is due (vetoing an anti-gay law, not making abortions harder to acquire, and not forcing creationism into the schools might be called “not legislating her own morality” by an objective observer). I’ll say the failure to invest in infrastructure is troublig to me. But someone please tell me “Built streets to early 20th century standards” means downtown Wasilla has cobblestones.

September 7, 2008 at 10:05 am
(25) me says:

I found where the state was stuck making quarterly payments of about $62,000 for that jet..and I also read from an accounting standpoint, it WAS sold at a profit, given it was a ‘used’ item, so it would of course, depreciate in value..no matter how much you bought it for,you won’t hardly ever get that when you sell it..money was saved,in my opinion. And she said she ‘put’ it on ebay. It was McCain that said she ‘sold it’. Usual semantics game by the media..again.

(27) winafla says:

The reason Ms Kilkenny wrote the letter is irrelevent. What IS relevent is any information that can be provided to the voting public about Sarah Palin, which in this case, was fact checked and is true. America needs FACTS, not SPIN , so they can make an informed choice in November. Regardless of her motivation, I thank Ms. Kilkenny for giving us those facts.

(28) Vicki Baker says:

As an aside, the plane was used over 50% of the time to ferry Alaskan prisoners to Arizona prisons, hardly a case of government “fat-cats” using the plane for personal reasons. She’s just another mean spirited politician who cares more for personal ambition than for the needs of society. I’m tired of this administration and McCain likes what Bush has done – that says it all for me. I don’t care what gender or color or alleged religion the Democrats are – they all get my vote and a chance to change things around for 4 years, and 8 years if they are trying.

September 7, 2008 at 4:04 pm
(29) Alaska Mom says:

Just a quick couple of points that may want to make any thinking person dig further; I’m sure all the details are available online in various places, since Ms. Kilkenny chose not to back up her “facts” with documentation.

She mentions the growth of the City budget during Sarah’s administration, without mentioning the accompanying growth of the City itself, or the surrounding Borough, much of which contracts with the City for services, and vice versa.

She is outraged over the letter requesting the librarian’s resignation, without mentioning that all of the other appointees from the previous administration received the same letter; SOP for incoming city managers, mayors, governors, presidents, etc.

Just a couple of surface problems that come to mind, yet remain unanswered by Ms. Kilkenny. I’m sure you can look at her laundry list of gripes against the woman she claims has hated her since 1996 and pick out a few of your own to research.

Oh, and as far as the Ebay/jet deal, there was an Ebay buyer at the $2.1 mil starting price, but the deal fell apart and the jet was listed again. Didn’t sell, later sold to a local for that same amount. And the only reason it was used to transport prisoners is because Frank Murkowski *thought* that might save him from voters’ wrath over the whole jet thing; the election was his to lose, and the jet -for many- was what lost it for him, the ‘last straw’ so to speak.

Right, wrong, or both, Ms. Kilkenny strikes me as a person with a grudge, getting her 15 minutes of fame. I don’t know this woman, and could be completely off-base about her motivation, but I’m certainly not going to take her “private e-mail” at face value.

The simple fact that she accepted the position all the while knowing she isn’t qualified in any way, tells me a lot about the self-centered, spotlight seeking person she is proving herself to be. Of course we are playing right into it by even discussing her. McCain chose her as a diversion – and he has certainly accomplished that.

Have you noticed that every post against Mrs. Kilkenny either calls her names, says she included only opinions, or both.

Name-calling (including “jealous”) is not persuasive. The Kilkenny letter does include many objectively-verifiable facts.

So far, it appears that Ms. Palin has been highly untruthful on a few points and intentionally misleading on quite a large number, for such a short time.

MEANWHILE, I HAVE NOT SEEN WHERE MRS. KILKENNY HAS BEEN SHOWN TO BE WRONG ON ANY FACT.

So far, it appears that the Republicans are relying heavily on making up facts and then attacking anyone who questions them.

American voters must be rather stupid for this to work.

(45) Esther says:

Is is fiction that Sarah inherited a city debt of zero when she entered the office of Mayor and left it with a debt of over $22-million? Is it fiction that she spent $1 million for a park and $15 million for construction of a multi-use sports complex built on property not owned by the City that is still in litigation? Is it fiction that she would not endorse her mother-in-law for Mayor? Kilkenny, might be angry and resent-ful that a sports complex was built instead of sewage treatment plant or storm drainage system. Are liberal Democrats the only people who believe a new storm drainage system is necessary…especially if the city is growing and more people are moving in … or not!!!!

(46) Candace says:

Fiction? Prove it? This woman has backed her story up Republican or Democrat deos not mattter. What should matter are the issues.
A couple of things that are true:
She is not very experienced
Her speach at the convention was full of it, lets not be silly people, she is a mouth peice
That is great that she decided to have her down syndrome baby a lot of women make that deicision everyday… that decision alone does not make them good people, nor does it make them qualified to run for president of the united states. This is not a popularity contest in high-school this is the future leader of the country who is going to either help or hurt this country greatly. I would rather have someone man/woman/black/white/other who is ready to lead with strong leadership qualities and an even stronger team of people to back him/her up.

I also look at it like this, yes I am a woman, but being a woman does not mean I need to vote for one. Lets be honest, what is a woman with a new down syndrome baby doing runnign for president in the first place?

20 years ago this would have never happened. Is this what happened to the American families?

And lets be honest, the fact that she has all of those kids…some she can handle, others she cannot… dis not enought o vice president. Obviously JOhn McCain thinks that will bring the voters on his side. Some things are about winning and losing and not about what to do when you actually get into the game.
It is sad and it shows how much America looks at image… instead of listening to truth.

I wish that all elections were blind where you knew nothing at all about a person, not what they looked like, not their race or gender, not anything about their home life or family… just what they have done work wise… not what they say they have done…but the truth, and what they plan to do in the future.

Knowing that will never happen, I want to know what the people closest to her think. They are the only ones who have some fraction of the truth.
The same goes for Barack, saying that, no controversy has truly followed him or Biden.

BS. factcheck didn’t find anything wrong with Anne’s letter…only said it’d check it later. And Palin did try to intimidate the librarian, even firing her and rehiring her (in a ‘loyalty test’) Since the librarian hasn’t been interviewed, and Anne was ‘one of a hundred people’ opposing Palin’s Barracuda style of bossism, Factcheck remains undecisive about the Bulk of Anne Kilkenny’s letter. She sounds like the real deal esp. about Sarah’s ability to hide secrets even the pregnancy she sprong on her family…not even telling them ’til the 7th month. The woman is ruthless!

(50) Lauralee says:

the latest false smear spreading from liberal blogs to the mainstream press – that Governor Palin banned books as Mayor of Wasilla. This is categorically false. The fact is that as Mayor, Palin never asked anyone to ban a book and not one book was ever banned, period.”

-The librarian in question has admitted that she only ever heard from Palin in the abstract on the issue of whether books could be pulled from library stacks.

-After the librarian responded that she would oppose such a move, no further discussions were held with Palin. There was no official list drawn up.

-Palin did approach the librarian to ask about the possibility, which could appear to some as something of a pressure campaign, & Palin did attempt to have the librarian removed.

-The list of books that were listed as having been banned under Palin’s tenure is transparently FAKE.

Apparently, Sarah Palin has committed the unpardonable sin (in liberals minds) of being open to teaching creationism ALONGSIDE evolution in public schools. So who is really anti-education here?

Republican strategist Alex Castellanos suggested that continued media scrutiny on even the legitimate facts of the Wasilla library episode could move moderate voters in Palin’s direction. “I think if the media keeps attacking Palin for things like this, her favorable ratings will climb to over 80 percent like they did in Alaska ,” Castellanos told the Huffington Post. “A mom being concerned about what kind of books our kids read and asking rhetorical questions about what can legally be done to protect them? What’s wrong with that? … This kind of foolishness is making her a hero to more than the evangelical right. It will make her a hero to working class women.”

September 9, 2008 at 7:31 am
(51) Lauralee says:

Thus far, there has been no confirmation that Palin’s attempt to have the librarian fired was directly related to that particular discussion.

I personally could not vote for someone that first off is not a CHRISTIAN and can not even salute our AMERICAN FLAG! He has not even fought in a war where McCain has.

If Obama gets elected for President this country will be in a bigger mess than ever before. We the AMERICANS will be a minority in our own country!

Wake up people, I am astounded that you would post this tripe on the Urban Legends page: “I personally could not vote for someone that first off is not a CHRISTIAN and can not even salute our AMERICAN FLAG! He has not even fought in a war where McCain has.”

Perhaps you should go back and look at the archives on this site regarding Obama’s religion, and whether or not he salutes the flag.

George Bush and Dick Cheney didn’t fight in any wars, and I’ll wager you voted for them. Sarah Palin hasn’t fought in any wars either. What’s the point?

Your other statement: “We the AMERICANS will be a minority in our own country!” What the heck does that mean? Are you saying Obama isn’t an American? If that were the case, he wouldn’t be able to run for President, would he? I suggest you check the FactCheck.org page – they have a copy of his birth certificate.

Please educate yourself.

Bree, before I ever post anything in public, I do my homework – I check multiple sources, and use my own common sense. If I’m not sure about the information, I keep my own counsel.

Perhaps, if you’d read the entire Newsweek article (all the way to page 4), you’d have seen the note stating “We’re still analyzing Kilkenny’s claims, and we will be posting something on this soon.” This is the same thing that is said on the FactCheck.org site, which I just now checked again, to see if there were any updates (there are not). That doesn’t sound to me like “proof” they are disputing the Kilkenny email.

You might have also been made aware, had you read the article thoroughly, that FactCheck was dispelling “internet” rumors regarding Ms. Palin, not what was said in the Kilkenny email.

Personally, I don’t care about the Kilkenny email – there is too much factual information out and about regarding Ms. Palin to put much credence in one individual’s emailed opinion. The reason I posted was because of my utter astonishment that someone would post well documented lies about Obama on the very site that specializes in disputing such misinformation.

May I humbly suggest that in future, you take your own advice.

Ohmygoodness says:

Really? This is your argument for why she has %80 approval ratings? Please know your facts before you post.

“Citizens of Alaska have been receiving individual dividend checks from an oil rent trust fund since 1982.”

“The Alaska state constitution claims common heritage rights of ownership of oil and other minerals for the people of the state as a whole. Citizen dividend checks are distributed every year in Alaska out of the interest payments to an oil royalties deposit account called the Alaska Permanent Fund (APF) created in 1976 after oil was discovered on the North Slope. The APF is a public trust fund – a diversified stock, bond and real estate portfolio – into which are deposited the oil royalties received from the corporations which extract the oil from the lands of Alaska. The first citizen dividend check from the interest of the APF was issued in 1982 and was for $1000 per every person for everyone in Alaska who had resided in the state for at least one year. Annual citizen dividends have been issued every year since then, for a total of more than $23,000 per person.”

I guess Governor Palin has been been behind this distribution for quite some time now. What great foresight she had!

I am an independent woman and Sarah scares the crap out of me. I look at the facts and what would happen if she were to become president. Do you think the middle eastern countries would respect her? Her pit bull personally would have us in hot water, or World War 3. I can’t believe Americans continue to re-elect the same type of corrupt politicians. We need a positive change! Not a pit bull with lipstick or a Maverick that boasts about his POW experience instead of his accomplishments in office. Obama may not be the best choice but at least we have a better chance of staying out of WW3.
WAKE UP AMERICANS AND RESEARCH BEFORE YOU VOTE!
I also think hunting down wolves from the air is barbaric. Go to http://www.defendersofwildlife.com and see what a great vice president Sarah will make! It makes me sick to my stomach!

wolfladysue – What does Palin have to do with hunting wolves from the air? The issue was put to the ballot box and it was defeated by voters. Oh-I forgot…the left always believes that the minority should take precedence over the majority. I thought I lived in America, where the majority opinion rules, as determined by voting.

As for Obama keeping us out of WW3; the guy cant even think for himself. He has a gallery of handlers that have to clean up behind him when he speaks extemporaneously. The only time he sounds good is when he’s reading from a prompter with a well written speech (not by him). Obama couldn’t even come up with an idea about what he would do when Russia invaded Georgia. He did offer a solution (3 days later) that shows he knows nothing about foreign affairs, which was to bring a hearing in front of the UN security council, of which Russia has veto power. This guys a joke and full of crap. What did Obama do when hurricane Gustav hit? Nothing. What did JM do? He set up phone banks to take donations to help the afflicted areas. So you tell me, who shows the most leadership potential?

Really, did anyone see him whining about people picking on him when he did the interview with Bill O’Reilly? He’s like a little kid that gets sad when people pick on him.

(66) Deborah says:

Palin is a joke. She reminds me of that other “soccer mom” in Texas who tried to murder a fellow teenage competitor for her daughter’s cheerleading squad. Rabid egotistical ambition.

I think the letter is fair and responsible. But just like every single brainwashed Republican I’ve ever met, those on this blog have to take personal offense and try to deride her. She’s taking a huge risk by coming forward seeing how Palin’s skinhead terrorist tactics could get her in trouble. I admire her for the courage it takes to come forward.

Palin’s aerobic class girlfriends, who call themselves the Elite 6 (but it’s Obama that’s elitist, r i g h t) wont even vote for her. That’s pretty telling. On several levels.

The facts are out there. Soon even these brainwashed nitwits won’t be able to rant it away. She’ll be off the scene as quickly as she came on. Back to her trailer park perusing her beauty magazines where she belongs. This isn’t a woman running for office, it’s a butch drag queen. And it’s packin’!

Don’t vote for anyone other than Obama if you don’t want another 4-8 years of Bush’s BS. A “silent vote for Obama” is no vote at all. Remember Ralph Nader? They’ll try to steal this election too but they can only do so much. If everyone gets out there to vote and they make sure their vote will actually make a difference, we can stop this ploy from succeeding.

I for one can’t stand another hypocritical animal-killing environment poisoning ignoramus in office. We’re already the laughing stock of the world. Americans are dumber than doorknobs for even considering such a bimbo. A beauty queen? Puhlease! She’s not even beautiful. She’s fat and frumpy and really namby pamby (sp?). She wouldn’t be a blip on the radar if she weren’t competing in the backwoods of Alaska where the ratio of men to women is what like, 10 to 1 or something. Desperate. Like her.

I do want to ask her one question though. Well two. 1) Do you think Jesus would hunt innocent animals? and 2) Why is it OK for fundamentalist “Christians” to talk about a holy war but not OK for fundamentalist Muslims to talk about a jihad? Uh, do you notice something odoriferous about that equation?

Here’s a little hint, lib’s of the left; If you use some facts and back them up…people may take you seriously.

Riddle me this Deborah. Who is the “animal-killing environment poisoning ignoramus” you are talking about? Surly cant be GW, since the libs control congress. What have they done since being in power to curb the tide of “global warming”? What is it that they have done at all? They’ve got a 9% approval rating. So I think its them you really need to blame.

If we are the laughing stock of the world, why do all the “laughing” countries come to us when they need help? It people like you who don’t think America is great. It’s people like you who think we are the laughing stock of the world. It’s people like you who would lead this country off a cliff only to appease our enemies.

About your questions:
1) Do you think Jesus would hunt innocent animals?
Answer- yes
Why- if you believe in Jesus you must also believe in God. God put creatures on this planet so we could hunt and nourish our bodies. Jesus ate meat, so that would mean he condoned the practice of hunting animals for human consumption.

2)Why is it OK for fundamentalist “Christians” to talk about a holy war but not OK for fundamentalist Muslims to talk about a jihad?
Answer- What Christians are talking about a holy war? Last time I checked we weren’t attacked by Christians claiming a holy war. We were attacked by coward Muslims on their jihad crusade to rid the world of the wicked west. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt by saying you must be confused with the two religions.

I just received an e-mail of Ms. Kilkenny’s comments, so, being the staunch netlore disbeliever that I am, I came straight to David’s page to find the facts. So first, thanks, David, for providing the info that’s out there on this letter and on Ms. Kilkenny.

Second, to all the extremists on BOTH sides, would you please ACTUALLY read this stuff before making sweeping generalizations about Ms. Kilkenny, her choice of political party, or those who disagree with you on specific issues? In this letter, she’s doing what every American has the right to do: speak. their. mind.

For the most part, she notes when statements are objective facts and when they are her opinion. It’s not a perfectly written article, but she stipulates that herself. She’s just a citizen, not a pundit.

And so far, the only thing that FactCheck.org has had to say about Ms. Kilkenny is that they’re looking into it and that Palin’s motivation for firing the librarian is simply an unknown. Nothing else said by Anne Kilkenny has been debunked by FactCheck.org.

I’m sure discussion over Palin’s qualifications will continue. I hope they do! And I hope that the record of ANYONE running to be a heartbeat away from the most powerful office in the world would be fully examined before a single ballot was cast.

McCain, Obama, and Biden all have had their dirty laundry and full back story scrutinized, and they will continue to be fodder for the press. Thanks, Ms. Kilkenny for starting the same ball rolling for the latest addition to the circus and for helping to keep the electorate informed.

I saw Palin in an interview this morning and clearly without a teleprompt in front of her she doesn’t have a lot to say. Very hesitant and evasive. Clearly evasive due to lack of knowledge, as opposed to not wanting to give an actual answer.
What a combination – McCain who may very well be at the beginning of Altzheimer’s (wasn’t Ronnie in the very early stages when he left the WH?) considering how McCain flipflops (and seriously thinks is coined the word “change” in his campaign, and Palin who is one of the most uninformed and inexperienced politicians to be put on a ticket for VP. She is a very scary woman. (Bush in drag?)
If her daughter is proof at how good a mother she is at instilling abstinence behavior, there’s a clue as to how she will run government.

(80) A big IF says:

Miss Kilkenney has given us a peek into Sarah Palin. Bravo to her for coming forward. I am sure there are many who have a story about Sarah, but as pointed out, there will probably be fallout for her courage.

If,if,if Palin gets the office of VP it will be a long time before another women will even get close to running during a Presidential election. Sarah Palin will set women back 50 years and undo what has been done.

Hillary Clinton made a very promising candidate and made possible what had been seen as an impossibility – a woman as President. Palin’s lack of knowledge (forget about experience!) will take that possibility away as she will be seen as an incompetent leader who rides shotgun when it comes to decisions that impact the USA.

For the longest time I was torn between Obama and Hillary as they both showed promise for leading the USA. If I had even thought about McCain, his choice of running mate would have sealed it for me. Palin is window dressing for McCain – he brought her in to gain votes, not thinking about her ability to do the job. Then again, he probably doesn’t see her doing very much either!!!

So, what does she doe when it’s not rifle hunting season? Bash baby seals?

Even if McCain survives as President for 4 years without a 2nd term – who would vote for an 82 year old with an albatrose around his neck (Palin)? Let’s pray that he doesn’t die during his term!

It’s “good cop/ bad cop” time again except the cops call it “election time”. Your republican candidate is not a “maverick” if he were, he would not have been that party’s nominee. Ron Paul is a republican “maverick”- see how far he got in the primary? Obama is not for change- he can’t be. No one rises as quickly as he has in politics without owing someone some favors. He will have to repay the favors and you can bet that the recipients are not the average American. Both are cops and both work for the same boss- the real people who run this country- and it ain’t you or me. No matter who “wins or loses” they all keep their cozy jobs and benefits while the rest of us scrape for the scraps. Ralph Nader owes no one any favors. For that reason he is a true “maverick”. He has influenced government policy and helped ALL Americans and he really offers change and “hope”. So play the game for one more time and see what you get.

(90) Matt Y. says:

Anne Kilkenny certainly has a right to inform people of her opinion; good for her. But you know, there are two sides to any story, and furthermore, it’s hard to truly be objective, especially when it’s about a political opponent as it is in this case. She did present facts, but questions remain, such as whether she interpreted the facts correctly, whether there are additional facts that would shed a different light on the case, and whether she interpreted Sarah’s motives correctly. I think it’s impossible to completely answer those questions. Kilkenny may or may not be “jealous”, but I’m going to assume that she’s trying to be honest, since I can’t see into her head (just as she can’t see into Sarah Palin’s head). So I think that her e-mail should be taken with a grain of salt. It’s a good piece by an opponent who (assumedly) had good motives, but who is nonetheless an opponent and carries an underlying, unknowing bias (as we all do).

To the question in #89: “You mean there is not one person in this whole USA who is more qualified?” Wow that’s interesting! I didn’t know everyone else in the whole USA is running! Thanks for enlightening me! (/sarcasm off). Seriously, there are two vp candidates. While (for example) Rick Santorum might have more experience (which does not necessarily equal “more qualified”), he’s not running. Palin and Biden ARE running, and I could also ask if Biden is the best you can do.

This Country is to be under the subjection to the one true God and nothing more. State is to serve and uphold the 10 commandments of the Holy Bible in the land. It is time for this Nation to turn back from its wicked ways and get back to the Bible, to the Creator.
