Palin the Book Banner?

By , About.com GuideSeptember 8, 2008

Follow me on:

Thank God for the Internet, without which we would have never known that Mayor Sarah Palin tried (and failed) to have Webster's Dictionary banned from the Wasilla Public Library in 1996, along with dozens of other titles including Tarzan of the Apes and Huckleberry Finn.

The real shocker is that she apparently had the prescience to demand the removal of several volumes of the Harry Potter series, the first of which wasn't published until the following year!

What gives?

Hi Ammy… Did you as an all intelligent conservative republican bother to read what was written when you clicked “what gives”? It clearly showed the mail was bunk and did not accurately demonstrate the reasons that Palin is one scary person to potentially be President. And I am a Liberal/Democrat and only stink when I give a forgiving hug to some poor MISGUIDED replublican. The smell wears off after a while ; ) Seriously… I love all of you and you don’t smell bad either! Don’t worry… evolution will get to all of you eventually…. then you can be a Democrat too! : )

Last thing we need is someone telling us what we can and can not read. Whether someone thinks it is “crap” or not. The strength of this nation can be found in the free expression of ideas, and I for one can not support anyone who would ban books. Does anyone remember book burning in Nazi Germany?

what is it with all of you people parties do not even matter can’t you tell when you are being lied to. And who still believes in god the way they did thousands of years ago we are in the 21st century people all we need to worry about is surviving in a world with a population reaching its carrying capacity and a planet that is drawing every closer to destabilization. Lets forget about what books people like and start looking at the issues i am sick of our problems getting sidetracked by lobbyists and elites who just want that extra slice of power or that extra billion dollars that won’t do anyone any god not even them. There is a point when greed turns into evil and you don’t need to look to far into our government to see that. It is time for change and I am not saying Obama is the best for the job, but when it comes down to it he is right the last thing we need is an old white male who is going to be playing golf with
Bush and Cheney figuring out how they can continue to scam the US citizens even further.

Hello Miss Ammy,
Do you think my books are a bunch of crap? I bet the only reason you don’t read them is because you do not understand them. I don’t think you can even read. My books are not only stories of adventure, but they are books that inspire readers that you can do anything if you set your mind to it. If my books are so “crappy” as some young people say it, then why would it have sold billions of copies? Think about that Miss Ammy.

Your “uncrappy” writer,
J.K. Rowling

Boy, none of the Liberal Democraps in this comment section ever read on. You have to follow the link that shows that the book banning thing was completely fabicated (that means made-up to you liberals) and it was created by some Dem hacks.
