Van Palin / Van Halen

Thursday September 18, 2008
With world financial markets on the verge of collapse you'd think folks could find more to complain about than what some politician named her kid . . . but no.  A reader passed this forwarded message along to me this morning:
Sarah Palin named her son Trig Paxton Van Palin because it sounds like the band Van Halen.

I'm sorry but anyone who calls their child that is not right in the head... and she is going to be a heartbeat (literally) from being the most powerful person in the world.

Puleeeze!!
Fact check: Is it true that Trig Paxton Van Palin was named in part after the heavy metal band Van Halen?  Yes, says my About.com colleague Linda Lowen, who has looked into the naming conventions of the Palin clan with more intrepidness than I could muster.

As for the rest of it, far be it from me to cast stones at families who give their youngsters heavy metal monikers -- I have a niece named after a character in a Led Zeppelin song.

Nothing amazes me anymore with politics let alone life in general. This is more like the Mickey Mouse Club then honored people running for our commander and chief, and second in command. Very scary!

first let me say i truely had nothing better to do at this time ,that said, why do you even care a spit what or who the women’s children are named after!quite frankly, it is refreshing considering all of the codys and tylers that are
out there (not very masculine names for a grown
man, by the way-in case you forgot those little boys will be men someday)peace:)

Its better than you libs who name your kids after the seasons, planets, or whatever part of the earth/universe you can think of at the present moment of your continued mental bliss.
