Did Someone Shout the N-Word at a Sarah Palin Rally?

By , About.com GuideOctober 28, 2008

Follow me on:

Palin supporter yelled 'redistributor,' not the N-word / Screenshot of YouTube videoObama supporters claim that someone in the crowd at a Sarah Palin campaign stop hollered the "N-word" during a portion of the speech addressing Obama's alleged "redistribution of wealth" economic policies.

It isn't so.

A helpfully-captioned YouTube video distributed to prove the allegation seems to confirm it, but, in fact, as a different video containing a higher-quality audio loop of the segment shows, the crowd member was actually shouting "Redistributor!"

McCain/Palin foe Andrew Sullivan agrees. So does pro-Obama Daily Kos contributor cartwrightdale.

Like the recent controversy over a talking doll that allegedly says "Islam is the light," it's something of an aural Rorschach Test.

I’m not hearing the same thing you are. The first syllable is either “an”, “and”, “yeah”, or something with “ah” in it. It’s very clear.

There are 4 other syllables spoken. “redistributor” has 5 syllables. But, “he’s a n****r” has only 4 syllables.

Also, not hearing a “u” sound at all.

If an idiot did say the N word, so what? Politicians don’t have mind control over their supporters. It has no reflection on Palin. Hell an Obama supporter hung a dummy dressed like Palin, I don’t think all of Obama supporters agree with it.

I cannot hear that as ‘redistributor’ no matter how I try. I can, however, easily hear the other thing.
I’m not saying that proves anything, but it’s just how it is.

It’s sad that the ignorant have to make up things, and the fact that some people will probably believe this lie, how sad. This is what elections have come to they will win at any cost, but I guess the less facts people know about him the more votes Obama will get.

Enjoy higher taxes, socialism, and getting attacked when ignorant propaganda get Obama elected. GO HELP US ALL.

I thought that rather than socialism (such as our current President’s nationalization of our major banks), Obama will be much more like communism (after all, he did confess, did he not, to sharing his toys and peanut butter sandwiches as a child?!)

Who the heck yells “Redistributor!” in any situation, ever?

Re the unlikelihood of someone yelling such an unusual word as “redistributor,” John McCain had been applying the label to Obama all that week, in one speech even calling him “Redistributor-in-Chief.”

In fact, it WAS yelled. i have confirmation from other people I work with that were there.

additionally, similar epithets have been presented to video bloggers in line AND in the rallies – including things I overheard while reporting from the RNC on Sarah Palin night.

don’t even know why this would be classified as ‘urban legend’.

just have a look at any of the videos at http://www.globalpundit.org – especially the post rally interview w/ the ‘He’s an Arab’ Lady…get off the pot – something very dangerous has been unleashed.
