Burundanga Drug Rumors Spread to Canada, Australia
Thursday November 6, 2008
Police in Canada and Australia are advising citizens to disregard viral emails warning that women have been approached at gas stations by men handing out business cards soaked with an incapacitating street drug called burundanga.
The messages are slightly revised versions of similar texts circulating in the United States since mid-2008.
While burundanga does exist and its use in the commission of crimes has been documented in Latin American countries, particularly Columbia, there is nothing in published sources to indicate it is being for that purpose in North America or Australia.

I’ve seen circular emails on this subject and I’m in the UK.
I’m presuming it’s the same, a lady is passed some sort of card in a petrol station, she later feels effects but someone interveans and the lady is ok. She goes to the police who mention this drug soaked card etc etc.
Hi
Yep, I have just received this email from work colleagues. I have replied to them saying its a scam
What is worrying though, what if one day a genuine email alert is sent out to warn people of something, we will all just assume its a hoax…reminds me of cry wolf.
If there was a genuine risk to the public a Police announcement would be on the news or in the papers at the very least.
I dont see the problem with wether its a scam or not,if the drug exists and it has been used, then its a possibility, you can never be too careful, especially if sites like this put ideas in peoples heads!!.
