The following began circulating earlier this week via email:
Can you pick out the one true statement above? Read more...FW: stimulus jobs...
Some have said that the stimulus hasn't saved any jobs, but here is a case where at least one job was saved.
According to an unnamed source, Oregon State University Athletic Director Bob DeCarolis was considering firing their basketball coach, Craig Robinson, after an 8-11 start (2-5 in the Pac 10 conference).
When word of this reached Washington , Undersecretary of Education Martha Kanter was dispatched to Corvallis with $17 million in stimulus money for the university. The source now says that Craig Robinson's job is safe for this year.
For the record, Coach Robinson just happens to be Michelle Obama's Brother.

David,
While I admire your persistence in trying to dispel vicious right wing slander against the President, you should pretty well know that right wing knuckle draggers never let silly things like truth stand in the way of a good bile spewing. See also Global Warming, health care reform, WMDs in Iraq, etc.
STOP OBAMACARE ! ! ! !
David….u need to get a life bud….maybe a real job would help
One must notice that the job extention came well after the stimulus money was given to the college. Also I wonder how many other clooeges received $26M. Most colleges aare suffering today because of th eeconomy but they see no stimulus
I agree with Tom B. Illinois University is in trouble (my grand daughter’s education toward being a doctor, also). Illinois is so corrupt that they haven’t given the universities the monies owed to them by the state. Where is their stimulus money?…OH..it went to Oregon State University where MB’s brother works. The educatation of our kids is the most important thing in this country and THAT is what the government uses to threaten us to get their way…..Ben Nelson!!!!! OH..that was Medicaid…more money, (in most cases, not all) for people who don’t work and pay taxes which fund stimulus which never goes to the hard working middle class!!!!…pay back Medicare…..
What’s so sad is that the politicians are so crooked, these smears are believable!
Say, how’s all that Hope and Change workin’ out for ya?
Just wanted to thank rich, jim, Tom b (where did you go to clooege, Tom?), Susan and Nightrunner for proving my initial point so succinctly. You are all dumber than pie.
I agree with Jethro Gibbs. I don’t believe in coincidences.
Yea… the only part of that article that is possibly not true is the part about Martha Kanter being dispatched to Corvallis with $17 million in stimulus money. Over half of the $26 mil had already been given in 2009. Besides, if you don’t believe that was money to help him keep his job, then you also don’t believe ObamaCare will save us money!!!! HAHA
Well you’ve just proven absolutely nothing. This bribe, in my opinion, definitely took place.
So, let me get this straight. The ‘proof’ that this money was not given to the University as a direct result of Craig Robinson’s association with the University is, pretty much, that the University denied that it was. Is that pretty much it? Wow! How could we have been so silly? I feel like such a boob. I see, now, that “Nuh uh!” is a valid defense. Thanks!

Brilliant analysis, Ritch. Now explain why another Oregon college where Craig Robinson doesn’t work, University of Oregon, received even more federal stimulus money (at least $40 million).
You should say what you really mean: “I choose to believe it, therefore it’s true.”
I’m sure most of the stimulus money spent was targeted to benefits friends, family and of course Democrat voters. The smears continue because the corruption continues.
Absolutelly!!! that’s the Rats’way.
Its the Chicago way!
Right back at you David Emory. You choose not to believe it, therefore it’s not true.” Now , if any President, other than a Democrat were involved, you would say every word was the
truth.
Everyone should read “The Naked Communist”. The author foretells of what has now happened to the Democratic Party and America, as a whole. A lot of Democrats are becoming Red and just don’t know it. Sad days for the USA.
And you actually believe anything that a college press release office gives you as the proof that the story is false? I’ve worked at a large liberal college (aren’t they all?) and everything they spit out is from a gigantic spin machine. Though the story might be false or misleading at least do some actual investigation before you denounce it. What did the college get $26 million for for instance.
I believe the story because this criminal government believes America is bad and it’s their job to redistribute the American taxpayer’s money to what they believe is a just cause and of course, Michele’s brother losing his job would certainly be a just cause.

Athletic budget cut update #21 – Beavers chopping east! and west?
The latest budget news has Oregon State Director of Athletics Bob DeCarolis suggesting that if their recently announced fund raising efforts are not successful the Beavers may be forced to drop teams.
Nonetheless, preliminary numbers suggest Oregon schools have used stimulus dollars and tax measures to make way for tens of thousands of new students this fall.
OSU
For Oregon State University in Corvallis, where the brother-in-law of the current U.S. President coaches basketball, record enrollment has translated to longer lines and greater competition for everything from classes to parking places.
Why the jump? According to The Oregonian, OSU joins other Oregon universities trying harder to retain students. This comes after the newest numbers show one in five freshmen usually quit in the first year. The O also reports such universities as OSU are hiring additional support staff: enlisting more advisers, tutors and mentors and expanding programs to help students manage everything from course load to finances.
This comes as OSU spends its American Recovery and Reinvestment Act dollars, including $252 million in federal research grants and contracts earned in 2009. The school’s website reports the $252-million amount is “more than that received by all other Oregon public universities combined.”
Some of the funding for expansion also came from state stimulus dollars. These funds were approved for “capital construction” projects as part of Oregon Senate Bill 338. For example, OregonLive.com reported that $500,000 in state stimulus money paid for part of a $3.7 million renovation of OSU’s Gill Coliseum, where the Beavers play basketball.
