The Times of India reports that forwarded emails warning of the criminal use of a stupefying South American street drug called Burundanga have caused "quite a scare in the country," despite the fact that New Delhi police say they've never come across such a drug in the city.
The same rumors have circulated for several years in the United States and elsewhere, and for the most part are false. Burundanga does exist and is known to have been used by criminals to incapacitate victims in Colombia, but there's little to no documentary evidence of its proliferation outside South America.

Again, why do these false rumors gain traction? It amazes me that people take time out of their day to start stupid stories.
I guess third world countries are starting to be impacted by these rumors, just like the rest of the world….sad.
I think it just rumor.
One would think that with the same rumors spread over and over they would know there is no basis to believe it.
