Dhimmitude in ObamaCare?

(UPDATED) Still proliferating at a rapid clip, a 2010-vintage smear campaign falsely asserts that Muslims are "specifically exempt" from the mandate to purchase insurance under health care reform legislation passed by Congress, declaring in all seriousness that it represents the establishment of Sharia (Islamic law) and "Dhimmitude" (subjugation to Muslim rule) in the good ol' U.S.A.  Read the details and the debunking here.

I am pretty literate, but like usual we have elected lawyers to govern us, thus making it impossible to understand what is or is not fact because of the legal ease. So, is this real or unreal, only your lawyer knows for sure. I suggest that, like the bible, this language be deciphered into something the average person can understand. Then maybe, just maybe we can see how deep they have their hands in our pockets!

I’m sorry, but I’m currently on the floor laughing at Bynor’s comment…That laws should be translated into something understandable, like the Bible? Need he be reminded that it was ordered translated and organized by King James? Not only does it read in the Kings, (or in our era the Queens english), it was written for the benefit of “His majesty King James”. I’m not a lawyer but have read enough to know and learn for myself. What people really need is to get off their asses and do the same with our government. Stop waiting around for us to be handed something we understand. Stop waiting to be told what to do. Read the Constitution. Understand the fundamental rights that are outlined within it. Know that these things hold true for each and every citizen of this nation, natural or naturalized, then act upon it and accordingly. Read about the men and women of the Revolutionary war, about their struggles and exactly whom it was that fought for the freedoms we enjoy today. It wasn’t an enormous Army of the Government, it was an organized militia of ordinary people with extraordinary will. Read and learn how they suffered without boots and jackets in the dead of winter all along while England laughed at them only be defeated.

We don’t need something translated to that which we understand, it’s all right in front of us…It’s up to us to take responsibility of ourselves and learn for ourselves that which is being denied.

This government is in the process of choking liberty to death by slow and continuous laws and regulations put into place. This trend is the very reason the founders put the Second Amendment in place. Read the first part of the Declaration of Independence and it states that when we get a government such as we have now have the populace is obligated to throw it off and re-establish the government under the intended original laws of the Constitution.

I love the way you directly “Called Out” what is left of “We Americans” We All need to go back to our grade school history books and review what sacrifices it took the Revolutionary Army to eventually win against a most formidable British Army. Our schools no longer want to teach about American history, as I was taught in my youth. I am now 48 years old and cannot believe what they call “American History” in my three children’s schools. They receive a watered down version of our American history that barely creates an extremely light pink color for the red blood that was shed to create this America that we all enjoy! not to be a gad fly but something to be aware of the ” doctrine of selective incorporation” does not necessarily guarantee all rights to the citizens within the state governments…this has no baring on you arguments regarding federal practices but it is a little known addendum to most assertions concerning the constitution… another aside the quote your ending on “those who stand for nothing will fall for anything” is largely attributed to Alexander Hamilton who was shot and killed in a dual standing for something…a simple case of theory v. practice

I just want to affirm that God loves you and He offers to you a new life that is genuinely worth living. I agree that the entire healthcare bill should be deciphered and re written so that everyone can understand it. Of course, that won’t take care of the problem, as so many will still twist the truth (as they do with the Bible) but it will make more people aware of the dangers hidden in the bill.

I wish Congress would pass a law that would make it contempt of Congress (more accurately contempt of constituents by congress) for a member of the House or Senate to vote on a bill before they have read it. Also all laws could be no longer than 100 pages and must be written at a 10th grade reading level.

Dwight, I agree about the 10th grade reading level but keep in mind these bills are written by lawyers and in language crafted to enable legal discourse over it’s content. Just try and get 10 adults to read your post and give their intepretation of it. You will have 7 different viewpoints.

As to the 100 page requirement, you probably didn’t actually read the bill. I did, all 9 hundred something pages of it. It’s not written like a novel, it is in outline form with a lot of spaces and large margins, likely meant for annotation. The “thousand” pages sound bite proferred by the minority in Congress was just that, a sound bite. There are realistically less than 100 pages of business contract style documentation.

Assuming that you are an investor, look at a mutual fund prospectus the next time you get one. It is typically 75 – 100 pages with narrow margins and small type. Much more difficult to read (and understand) than this healthcare bill is.

I personally believe you need to go lower than a 10th grade reading level…as this would include most of America if it were at the 4th or 5th grade level of understanding…most college kids cannot read at the 10th grade level, especially in State run colleges..

You could actually just attempt to read the bill rather than assume it’s impossible to understand. But wait, that would require actual work rather than just listening and believing whatever “enter random pundit’s name here” tells you. As a product of a public k-12 and college education, I can assure you that most students that are willing to put the time in can interpret this language.

Betty, I work in a field that reads and interprets “code” almost daily. This piece of “legislation” is an assault on sanity. I’ll admit that I haven’t read ALL of it if you admit it too. It is near impossible. To read it, you must refer to other laws/statutes/regulations. It is an outright Obozonation written as a convoluted, meandering and sometimes contradictory work of gibberish. And since it is not short, clearly written and forthright, it is and will always be open for interpretation of the ruling party. As my first Chief always said “KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid”.

The word “dhimmitude” doesn’t appear anywhere in the health care bill. Why would it? The notion that it does is flat-out wacky.

David, you are correct. The word “dhimmitude” is not specifically stated in health care bill but, it certainly is implied. It is also noted that, that portion of the bill “has not yet been decided & won’t be for “some time”. Hello, somebody is buying time, hoping for a second term. If put into law now, it’s unlikely that would happen. Wake up America.

Hey Elvis – none of these morons in office even know what they voted for. Most of the ;egislation falls under the heading of “vagueries to be determined for future considerations”.

Hence the chief moron Pelosi telling us all about the wonderful present we weer all given – “We have to pass the law so you can see what is in it”. I would love to know under what constitutional authority any represent can vote on a piece of legislation without reading the bill – much less understanding what they have read.

A facebook friend posted this link today. She is very RW and makes no bones about her dislike of the present administration and her hatred of Muslims. Trouble is she only read and posted the top part of the Snopes page. The copy of the email. And of course several people jumped on the bandwagon and ‘checked it out’ again only reading the email portion. If it were not so sad I would laugh. Now Snopes is not god I know but they have a pretty good reputation for sanity. If you take the time to actually READ the page you see there are various religious sects including the Amish that may be exempt for various reasons. So far it looks as though the Amish have the best chance of opting out. I found it interesting. Muslims however may not qualify because they do accept Soc.Sec (the Amish do not among other things) anyway it is a very enlightening page. Not the kind of enlightenment my friend found but then people who want to find the worst in/about people generally do.

A 28th Amendment (If a country truly believes in equality for all then any law that requires exceptions should never be allowed)

Section (1) of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution reads in part:

…“No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

An amendment as follows is needed for the federal government also. If you want to rein in an out of control Federal government this would do it.
A proposed 28th Amendment reads as follows:

Section I… “Any law passed by congress must apply equally not only to all citizens of the United States but also specifically and equally to members of congress and their staffs, the administrative branch and their staffs and the judicial branch and their staffs. Congress shall pass no law, the administrative branch shall not enforce any law nor shall the judicial branch make any ruling that gives special consideration to any individual, group of citizens nor any division of government at the national, state or local level, nor any organization however comprised, of the United States and that does not apply equally to all United States citizens.

Section II…Any previous actions by the congress, the administrative branch or the judicial branch that violate the provisions of section I of this amendment are declared null and void.

Section III…Any member of congress, the administrative branch or the judicial branch who violate the provisions of this amendment shall be impeached and barred from any further involvement in any capacity in the United States congress, administrative branch or the judicial branch for life.

He was hired at the University Of Chicago as a political favor to use as an enabler to springboard to the Illinois State Senate. As I said, he was never a professor. He was hired to perform lectures on the Constitution. By the way, he did start his campaign for that election in William Ayres’ house. He wasn’t “just another guy in the neighborhood”, as Mao-bama claims.
When I, (and most people), read the Constitution we read it with the perspective of what WE can freely do. Mao-bama reads it with a negative viewpoint. He reads the Constitution with the perspective of what the government ca do TO US.

A constituional law professor hopefully would understand the consitution. The empty suit in the oval office is not a constituional professor. If he ever did teach a course on the Constition, I feel sorry for anyone that sat through five minutes of one single class. Not only are members of Congress exempt from having to use Obamacare, any member, after they have been elected, can retire after only one term with full pay and benefits for life. Also, when they are first elected, they get over $1,000,000 for their office to use anyway they want. People, they have been sucking us dry!! If you really want change with these people then pass a law that will not let them receive money from lobbyist. Has anyone ever really asked where all those millions of dollars go?? How do they use that money?? Have the people that are asking all of these questions ever checked on their Congressperson to see how they vote on these issues?? By the way, Congress got raises last year, but Social Security people did not and the benefits of SS were lessen, A LOT. If they are going to have all these benefits, then why don;t they allow every American – legal Americans – be able to given one term in office so that they can retire with all the money and benefits. Now thats a socialistic state that would really make sense. Give everyone the same as the upper powers that be get.

To find out if ANY word appears in the health care bill, go to http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h3590/text and then do a ‘control f’ (find) and in the find box type the word.

FYI, I’ve done it and ‘dhimmitude’ doesn’t appear in the bill. That does NOT mean that the concept or the effect of it isn’t there, but the word is not in the text of the bill.

Oh, and by the way, the King James Bible is not “the Bible.” It didn’t just suddenly appear on the scene. It was a translation for its day, a “modern” translation of its time.

The original texts were written in everyday language, very accessible to anyone with even a rudimentary education (10th grade, anyone?) or even no education at all. What Christians call the Old Testament was originally written mostly in everyday Hebrew. The New Testament was written partly in Aramaic but mostly in Greek, and “street” Greek at that, not the high or formal Greek.

Today’s modern translations–and there are several very accurate and understandable translations available–are very understandable (as was the King James version to the average person in its day). If our laws were written to a standard even half us understandable to the average person as a modern translation of the Bible is today, our country would be much better off.

So please, let’s have no patronizing nonsense about the Bible being hard to understand. Some merely pretend it is for their own personal reasons.

Basically I agree with the qguy.. However in the USA over the years each religious group has interprited the wording to suit their own needs of controlling their perishioners.

The Southern Bapist views are much different from the Northern Episcopalian ( and dare I say Northern Baptists) when reciting the same verses in the adult Sunday School and Bible Classes.

For years the ‘eye for eye’ groups shouted down the ‘forgiveness is required to get into Heaven’ groups.

A group of “men” decided what God wanted at Nicia. They translated and chose what ‘Books” would be in the Bible of that time. A Pope approved what was then ordered to be a Bible.

For Christians (what is down played ) it should be the Sermon on the Mount that guilds their daily life . If you believe in the words of Christ then pay heed to what was said by him. He said, according to those Scriptures, Pray in solitude, Forgive those who tresspass against you, as this is the only way into Heaven, HE taught the one prayer you need to live by…… Now that is “keep it simple stupid” …

I actually saw a modified copy of this chain letter e-mail in a local newspaper just recently. It’s telling that they printed a follow-up letter from a different person the very next day.

The fact is that it’s completely and utterly false in every respect. Muslims are just as culpable as Christians, Jews, Hindus, and whatever other religion one wants to name for buying health insurance under this law. They get no special exemption, they get no special privileges, nada, nothing.

The only people who can claim a religious exemption are those who are willing to completely bow out of it entirely (tellingly, only certain Christian sects have taken this exemption). Meaning they get no free lunch; no free health care on the taxpayer’s dime. And yet we still have people arguing that it’s dhimmitude, a term coined less than thirty years ago and which is still highly controversial.

Unfortunately, I know better than to hope that this dhimmitude rumor will die the death that it deserves; rumors grow with every telling and are almost impossible to kill. But the fact remains that this bill hardly represents some sort of legal servitude to Islam.

It’s not that the bonehead that started this mail didn’t bother to do due diligence, they had an agenda.
If those who receive such garbage would even bother to invest the slight effort of pulling up H. R. 3590: The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and do a “Ctrl F” search they would find it ain’t there.

People who perpetrate such corrosive lies are themselves being duped by subversive politics. The powers that want be count on this. Don’t you thing someone in the media would have jumped on this? It just goes to prove how gullible the general public truly is and how easily they can be led by the nose.

This discussion is meandering and needs to get back to the point. We are in trouble and listening to the man behind the curtain. He would like us to fuss among ourselves and not focus on the machinations obvious to a 10th grader from 1970. More proof of the failure of the education system an the unsettling portion of congress unable to read more than editorialized headlines.

Muslims BUT does allow for religious pro0hibitions against Insurance.
Guess what, Muslims have always had a proscription against insurance.
They view it as gambling. Also other than Muslims,Amish for example.

And unless we are world travellers we are not forgiving, kind, etc. But he implies he is those things and observe how kind and understanding he is!! Most people would love to know other languages and be world travellers but just have not had the privilege to do so. Most people I know fit the latter and mostly they are kind, understanding, forgiving and loving. For the most part they are just a bunch of simple Christians that would welcome John into their midst in a heartbeat.

Please read the “ObamaCare” Act, which is more formally known as the ”The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA)” which does not contain the word “DHIMMITUDE” in it; nor does the Act exempt ANY people except the individual who is a member of a recognized religious sect exempted by the IRS or waived in cases of financial hardship. American Indians, for example, are exempt. (Old Order Amish, Mennonites, et.al. as approved by the IRS)

I know you don’t like to admit that you may be wrong but please check the English dictionary for these two words: herb and aluminium. Why do you insist on dropping the ‘h’ from the word herb???

Aluminium is pronounced: al – you- min – i – um.
NOT ALOOMINUM, You leave out the second ‘i’ all together.

It helps with spelling if you pronounce a word correctly.

So Muslims are not specifically exempted. BUT, it appears to me in reading the text of the law that they can legally request an exemption, in spite of their paying into social security. Insurance is a dirty word to Islam although they find it acceptable for their auto, which does have a measure of health insurance, if it is anything like our state in the issuance of registration of a vehicle. The wording of the law was pretty cagey, eliminating specific reference. There should be no religious exemption for anyone, period.
