Actually, the aircraft shown on the page debunking the hoax is usually flown as Air Force Two. Air Force One is usually one of two custom 747s.
“Air Force One” is not a specific aircraft; rather it is a call sign used by any Air Force aircraft on which a sitting United States President is flying, just as “Army One,” “Marine One,” “Navy One,” and “Coast Guard One” are call signs used by Army, Marine, Navy, and Coast Guard aircraft on which a sitting President is flying, and “Executive One” is used by any civilian aircraft on which a sitting President is flying.
“Air Force Two,” “Marine Two,” and so forth are the call signs used for aircraft carrying a sitting Vice President.
Technically, if President Obama were to fly aboard his 2008 campaign aircraft, it would presumably be “Executive One,” unless, for whatever reason, it were flying under Air Force control. And in the unlikely event it were under Air Force control and in its 2008 campaign livery, and the President were on board, then technically, Air Force One would be in 2008 Obama campaign livery. But no Federal Government property would have been repainted; it would simply be a consequence of the President being on board, and the Air Force operating the aircraft.

James is correct. The 747’s are pronounced kneecaps (Nat’l Airborne Command Post). They are always used by the Pres (other than on short hops to get to it) due to the fact that they contain all of the infrastructure and communication capabilities that are available at the White House.
