Mitt Romney: I was too important to go to Vietnam

According to a bogus news story making the rounds, Mitt Romney responded to a reporter's question about his lack of military service during the Vietnam War by saying, "I was too important to go to Vietnam. I had a greater purpose in life. I wasn't neglecting my nation, but rather preparing myself for a future of service."

The truth, of course, is that he said no such thing.
