It isn't Hurricane Isaac, it wasn't taken on Tuesday, and it wasn't taken off the Gulf Coast.
According to photographer Sean Heavey, this image of a supercell thunderstorm was taken on the Montana prairie in 2010. It was entered in the 2010 National Geographic Photography Contest.

At first I thought that was another one of Mike Hollingshead’s. People tack these onto their websites or drop them into emails with a totally fictitious explanation attached, not thinking that these photos are copyrighted and they can get themselves into more than a little bit of trouble!
I was looking for hurricane picture but am not disappointed at this find. bad ass
