So, according to a false missive spreading far and wide on Facebook, NASA scientists are predicting something called a "universe change" during a three-day period beginning Dec. 23, 2012.
"It is not the end of the world," the message says, "it is an alignment of the Universe, where the Sun and the earth will align for the first time. The earth will shift from the current third dimension to zero dimension, then shift to the forth [sic] dimension. During this transition, the entire Universe will face a big change, and we will see a entire brand new world."
Anyone who thinks this misinformation actually came from NASA needs to read this now.

David, this is the reason we need sites like yours to help straighten things out. Thank you for taking the time to send out the correct information. Just imagine what the world would be like if we believed everything that comes off Facebook. It seems that Facebook is the main source of misinformation on line today. Some of the people must not have any idea of the consequences of the things they put in print. Some do, but like to see how many people will believe that made up mess. I’m a pure Muslim and trust in God, Mohammad /peace be upon him/ the first and the last profit, and Islam Religion . I’m an educated person and have never been against science and scientific ideas, but there is one thing which is the reality that any living creature in this world will die one day. This is the command of ALLAH. I’m never afraid of such incidents because I’m sure there will be an end to the life. For sure there will be resurrection and every one will be asked whatever he/she has done in this world. I request every one who at least have knowledge to know him/herself, then they definitely know ALLAH. Don’t worry at all. Whatever is going to be happened, the decider and changer of the world is some one els, and that is ALLAH. No one knows about his welfare and mischief.( AL GHAIBO INDALLAH). Only God Almighty knows what will occur.

This is simply a message encouraging people to be prepared for emergencies, recorded as part of a wider government preparedness campaign. It never mentions a blackout.

Why people are so worry about the end? There is always a secret to have your life end. If you believe the universe is going to end on Dec. 2012, and it will happen as you believed, then you are the most lucky person in this universe. Be happy and enjoy a single moment of your life! Be aware; No one can confirm the end of this Universe but one day we will definitely end our life….so why cry on it? Let the universe things do naturally but do your things genuinely! It is an impossible condition. If the world shifts to a zero dimension then it would be like nothing existed and we exist so it cannot happen. It would be like god also never existed.
