So, that Viral 'Dr. Phil Test' Isn't Really from Dr. Phil. Surprised?

Personality test

One of hottest social media shares of the moment is the so-called "Dr. Phil Test," a personality quiz supposedly created by TV psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw, who supposedly gave an on-air version of it to Oprah.

Except it wasn't, and he didn't. The test wasn't created, approved, nor administered to Oprah Winfrey by Dr. Phil.

I've found published versions of it dating back to 1987, when it was attributed to Dr. Charles Vine. The "Dr. Phil" version is an invention of the Internet and began circulating in the early 2000s. According to Google it has been posted on over 200,000 blogs, websites, and message boards.

The only time Dr. Phil has even acknowledged its existence was in 2009, when he said: "Those people are ripping off my name, they are ripping off my trademark, they are ripping off the copyright. So, no, I don't have a personality test. It's bogus."

I took that personality test. The results indicated that I am a moron that believes online personality tests actually reveal anything about my personality. So it’s pretty accurate in that sense.
