Daily Currant: House Republicans Schedule Obama Impeachment Hearings

What do you get when you combine ham-fisted political satire with wishful thinking on the part of an extremely dissatisfied faction of the electorate? Utter confusion, as in folks sharing fake news about House Republicans initiating impeachment proceedings against President Obama, when in fact no such thing has occurred.

The original source of this report, a website called The Daily Currant, bills itself as an "online satirical newspaper" whose stories are "purely fictional" (read the disclaimer).

For anyone unclear on the concept, "fictional" means "not true."

Here's a sampling of recent "scoops" from DailyCurrant.com:

Santorum Blames "Homosexuals" for Government Shutdown
Dennis Rodman Wins Nobel Peace Prize

Yes, but this is SUCH a reliable source, Heather. Lol! I just love how there are people all around the world using THIS site as their gauge for what is actually going on in this country. What a laughable joke. And, by the way, I had the unfortunate opportunity of listening to the buffoons on CNN screaming over their guests last night, while irate over this same news.

Heather and vabeachgirl508,

You folks do understand the difference between Republicans making speeches calling for impeachment and the actual initiation of impeachment proceedings, right?

Sadly the majority of Americans do not know the difference. The majority are not willing to put any effort into thinking or learning. The fact that this fake story has so many people needing to correct the story makes me wonder just how many people believe impeachment should happen and are too afraid of being called a racist or political terrorist to speak their mind.

Go to her website and watch her video as she says the words and lists all the evil Obama has perpetrated on us.

Bachmann? There are lunatic-fringe types who see her as some kind of holy prophet. That woman isn’t a prophet. She’s just a NUT.

Exactly SYS, this Bachman type is a totally pathetic IDIOT trying to convince American voters that they are just as stupid as she is. She’s constantly pushing her primitive capitalist ideology in our faces, cloaked in crazy ‘Christian’ wrapping. If she’s a ‘prophet’ at all, then a very false one indeed.

I knew it had to be a fake claim. It’s really sad how many people believe that sort of nonsense. Thanks for substantiating this lie for us : )

There is, indeed, a movement to impeach Obama: As of a few years ago by Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch; while gaining momentum, has not come into formal presentation yet, as it’s still in the process of getting enough support to actually implement the impeachment. To be effective, must have sanction via House Speaker; a majority in House voting for it; and thirdly, a Senate majority to support such action. 2014 elections will determine if their will still be House control, plus a Senate majority; without both, the odds are extremely poor.
