'Amber Alert' issued for missing girl

Authorities issued a statewide "Amber Alert,*" asking for the public's help in finding Jessica Cortez.

Jessica had gone to Echo Park with her parents and brother on Sunday, and the family discovered she was missing at about 7:30 p.m.

Police say witnesses told them the girl was seen leaving with a dark-complexioned man accompanied by a brown Chihuahua dog..

That information prompted police to classify the case as a possible abduction.

He described the man as having a dark complexion, 20 to 25 years old, 5-feet-8 to 6-feet tall, with a tattoo of a cross on his lower left leg.
Please, please help us find this little girl.

Let's Pray we Find her.
GOD BLESS.

*The "Amber Alert," is a statewide alert aimed at aggressively publicizing kidnappings to help bring in tips. Such an alert was credited with assisting the recent rescue of two teenage girls abducted near Lancaster, Calif.

Comments:  This flier is outdated. As of this writing, Jessica Cortez is back, safe and sound, with her family in Los Angeles. The four-year-old, who disappeared from Echo Park on August 11, 2002, turned up three days later "dirty and dishevelled" but otherwise in "good condition," doctors said, at a nearby children's clinic. Police are still investigating the circumstances of her disappearance.
