News footage of Palestinians celebrating the attacks was old or faked
RUMOR: "I've received several copies of a message alleging that CNN is using 1991 footage of celebrating Palestinians and passing it off as 2001 footage of Palestinians supposedly celebrating the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon."
STATUS: False. Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat wouldn't be on record as condemning such demonstrations if they hadn't happened; besides which, they were also documented by news outlets other than CNN. Eason Jordan, CNN's chief news executive, has denied the allegations, calling them "baseless and ridiculous." According to Jordan the footage in question was shot by a Reuters crew in East Jerusalem on September 11. Reuters also stands by the authenticity of the footage.

World Trade Center wreckage was offered for sale on eBay
RUMOR: "There are actually people on eBay selling bits and pieces of the WTC. Please email eBay and demand that these auctions be stopped. This is absolutely disgusting!!!"
STATUS: Was true, but eBay took immediate steps to monitor and remove all such auctions as soon as they were posted. Searching the eBay listings on Tuesday, we found one auction billed as follows: "WORLD TRADE CENTER !!!! METAL FROM THE BLAST!" The content had already been deleted.
CD cover art prophesied WTC attack
RUMOR: The cover of a recently or about-to-be released CD by a hip-hop group (or in another version, Lenny Kravitz) contains an image bearing a spooky - and some say prophetic - resemblance to photos of the World Trade Center blowing up on Tuesday.
STATUS: True. The CD in question is Party Time by The Coup, soon to be released on the 75 Ark label. The cover art, done two months ago, was pulled from the group's Website and will be replaced before the album is released, a spokesperson has said.
