From Sam:
Give me a break! Anyone who isn't smart enough to realize the email telling
Democrats to vote on Wednesday shouldn't be voting in the first place. That
is one topic that you shouldn't have touched because it illustrates how
gullible some people are and drops your credibility down by numerous points.
From Bill:
I first heard the voting scheduling thing in Nashville, TN. There was a
vote on whether to approve the bonds to make possible the TN NFL franchise.
I heard a local DJ telling folks that to approve, vote on Tuesday, to
disapprove, vote on Wednesday. I about fell over laughing! Now a new and national twist...
From Laurie:
Just one little comment on the the election ... anyone
who would believe that there are two voting days
either has no brain cells in operation, or they're
blonde, take your pick. :)
From Jim:
The only hoax involved in the email about getting
Democrats/Republicans to vote on the wrong day is perpetuated by people
like you. Your silly poll about whether the perpetrator should be
punished is based on a totally wrong premise because there is no hoax.
Repeat NO HOAX. It's a joke. As someone else pointed out, it's so
obviously a joke that anyone who can't understand that should not be
allowed to vote. I would add that any writer who can't understand it
either shouldn't be writing. The person who started the joke shouldn't
be punished ... the people who promote the idea that it is a hoax should
be. And that includes clowns like you.
From Larry:
WOW!!! Thanks for the heads-up! I was prepared to vote on November 8th -
How stupid of me!
From Steve:
Your article was very timely. I started getting calls yesterday
wondering if it was true and, of course, I directed them to your article.
From "STW":
I got the email sent to me last week
about the election dates being on different dates. I thought it was
funny.
Surely people had to realize it was a joke email. Otherwise it would
have been on all the national and local news.
Come on, folks. We can't afford to lose our sense of humor. Life is hard
enough. If we lose our humor we are in trouble.
From Alan:
If the author were to make himself known and were to be charged with voter
fraud, that would indeed be a tragedy. I wouldn't be surprised to see a
stand-up comic on "The Late Show" or "The Tonight Show" use the joke at some
time in the future... I've seen those folks recycle net humor before. Will
they be arrested? Of course not... the context demands that people
understand that this is a joke.
From Darryl:
I heard a local news radio commentator laugh about the same
email as he read it on the air today. He then said, "I'll say this five
hundred times, the email is only a joke! It's only a joke!" Perhaps what irritates me most is that what probably was just a joke is
viewed by some folks as sinister and underhanded.
From Hayden:
Amazing! I haven't noticed anyone commenting on the last sentence of
the hoax. I have received it twice over the past several days from two
different folks. If anyone were that gullible (and I'm sure there are), the last sentence
should have helped. "Please don't pass this on to a blonde," is as I recall it.
