Groundhog Day
Although Groundhog Day proper is a North American tradition of fairly recent origin, its historical roots stretch back to ancient pagan midwinter celebrations and the medieval Christian feast of Candlemas. This year Groundhog Day takes place on Monday, February 2, 2009.
