From the article: Email Questions Obama's Decision Making in Pirate Hostage Crisis
After comparing the claims in forwarded emails to published accounts of the pirate hostage crisis, we concluded that allegations of indecisiveness on Obama's part should be treated skeptically. Do you agree or disagree? What are your reasons?
Obama and the pirates
- I’m certain that the lifeboat with the hostage aboard would have been under surveillance by the navy. When the hostage went overboard during the night and separated himself from the lifeboat, that unless there were orders to not shoot, the boat and the pirates would have been blown out of the water.

Pirates
- I am disappointed that a man who acheived the high position of Rear Admiral before retiring should forward an email which he does not know to be true. Hi forwarding of the email is equivalent to his endorsement. That makes his denial look pretty weak. That the officer in command on site felt free to take what he considered appropriate action denies any restrictions from above. Looks like a lot of politicol ballyhoo to me.

OMG
- Had we not seen how the Repugs react to every little or big thing Obama has done, this might have been a very interesting background report. Their credibility now being zero, it takes all the interest from it. I'm finding I have to double check everything the R's say rather than read and enjoy everybody's opinion. Not fun any more.
